Specializations

  • Swiftness Swiftness grants you extra damage via Bird of Prey so Clarion Bond can be valuable if you're swapping pets.
  • Despite apparent synergy, Cyclone Bow is not considered a ranger weapon for the purposes of Farsighted.
  • If an encounter has phases under 30 seconds, with split phases long enough to recover arrows in, you could run Flock Together for damage and support. But if you miscalculate and run out of arrows, this will be a massive DPS loss.

Utility:

Usage

The defining feature of Galeshot is their Cyclone Bow - a weapon always available from Summon Cyclone Bow that consumes arrows for each skill. While using the Cyclone Bow, each weapon skill other than Keen Shot will build up stacks of Wind Force. Each stack increases your movement speed and damage via Gale Force and upon reaching five stacks, Keen Shot is transformed into the significantly powerful Hawkeye. Thanks to Gale Force, this also converts the buff from Wind Force into a more powerful version that persists outside of Cyclone Bow (Wind Force stacks are otherwise lost when exiting the weapon).

Galeshot's rotation is a little over 20 seconds and during this time you use 13 arrows. You should restore four naturally over the same period, three from CC skills, at least one from your pet's CC skill, and two from Squall use. Every other loop you restore three from Perfect Storm (as it is also a CC skill). This means that you will slowly lose arrows even if you get a second CC from a pet swap, and accidentally using additional Cyclone Bow skills can be costly. If phases do run long enough for this to become a problem, you can use Soothing Breeze during downtime (or if you absolutely have to, when you would otherwise be autoattacking in Cyclone Bow).

Rotation

Galeshot's most important utility is Mistral. For the duration of this skill, every projectile fired through it will deal a small extra hit of damage and so the build uses two projectile weapon sets (plus the Cyclone Bow), and the burst is centred around launching as many projectiles in that six-second window as possible.

Opener

Start on Longbow. If you are pet swapping, start on Carrion Devourer Carrion Devourer and use Poisonous Cloud as soon as you can (it has no cast time for you), then pet swap.

  1. Barrage
  2. Summon Cyclone Bow
  3. Bluster
  4. Quarry's Peril
  5. Supersonic Arrow
  6. Perfect Storm
  7. Mistral
  8. Bluster
  9. Hawkeye
  10. Dismiss Cyclone Bow - Using F5 to dismiss the bow will not interrupt the cast of your current skill
  11. Rapid Fire
  12. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Axe Section

  1. Piercing Gales (if available)
  2. Splitblade
  3. Winter's Bite
  4. Path of Scars
  5. Summon Cyclone Bow
  6. Bluster
  7. Fleeting Zephyr - this launches you backward so be careful with positioning and run back to the group immediately.
  8. Autoattack until Bluster is available
  9. Bluster
  10. Quarry's Peril
  11. Autoattack until Bluster is available
  12. Bluster
  13. Hawkeye
  14. Dismiss Cyclone Bow
  15. Splitblade
  16. Winter's Bite
  17. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Longbow Section

  1. Point Blank Shot
  2. Rapid Fire
  3. Barrage
  4. Summon Cyclone Bow
  5. Bluster
  6. Perfect Storm (if available)
  7. Quarry's Peril
  8. Supersonic Arrow
  9. Mistral (if available)
  10. Piercing Gales (if Perfect Storm was not used this loop)
  11. Bluster
  12. Hawkeye
  13. Dismiss Cyclone Bow
  14. Rapid Fire
  15. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  16. Return to start of Axe Section

General Tips

  • Fleeting Zephyr is an evade, and you can slightly adjust its position in the Cyclone Bow section in order to avoid dodging - don't end up delaying Hawkeye though.
  • If you are pet swapping, do so just after Fang Grapple, then swap back as soon as possible and use Fang Grapple immediately. Swap once more after the next Fang Grapple.
  • Carrion Devourer Carrion Devourer is the best pet swap for DPS. You can also restore arrows if you make sure it is in melee range so it will use its knockback attack.
    • If arrow generation is not a priority, you can also wait for a second use of Poisonous Cloud before swapping back.

CC

Due to Thrill of the Catch and Relic of the Claw, you use your CC during your rotation. You could bring a pet such as Electric Wyvern Electric Wyvern to swap to if you need more, and you have some flexibility to delay your pet's skill as well to make it line up with defiance bars.

  • Supersonic Arrow - 300 defiance break Daze Daze
  • Point Blank Shot - 150 defiance break Knockback Knockback (the tooltip is incorrect)
  • Path of Scars - 150 defiance break Pull Pull
  • Perfect Storm - 232 defiance break Launch Launch
  • Fang Grapple - 150 defiance break Pull Pull
  • If your Carrion Devourer Carrion Devourer is in melee range, it will occasionally use Tail Lash on its target, doing a 150 defiance break Knockback Knockback
