Specializations
- Despite apparent synergy, Cyclone Bow is not considered a ranger weapon for the purposes of .
- You could run for more
Fury (see Boons section below for more details). - If an encounter has phases under 30 seconds, with split phases long enough to recover arrows in, you could run for damage and support. But if you miscalculate and run out of arrows, this will be a massive DPS loss.
- In this case,
Raptor Swiftwing would be the highest damage pet.

Usage
The defining feature of Galeshot is their Cyclone Bow - a weapon always available from that consumes arrows for each skill. While using the Cyclone Bow, each weapon skill other than will build up stacks of Wind Force. Each stack increases your movement speed and damage via and upon reaching five stacks, is transformed into the significantly powerful . Thanks to , this also converts the buff from Wind Force into a more powerful version that persists outside of Cyclone Bow (Wind Force stacks are otherwise lost when exiting the weapon).
Galeshot's rotation is a little over 20 seconds and during this time you use 13 arrows. You should restore four naturally over the same period, three from CC skills, at least one from your pet's CC skill, and two from Squall use. Every other loop you restore three from (as it is also a CC skill). This means that you will slowly lose arrows even if you get a second CC from a pet swap, and accidentally using additional Cyclone Bow skills can be costly. If phases do run long enough for this to become a problem, you can use during downtime (or if you absolutely have to, when you would otherwise be autoattacking in Cyclone Bow).
Boons
Thanks to , each use of or applies
Might and
Quickness in a 480 unit radius around you, which is larger than the standard 360 unit of most classes.
Your only other source of boons is a small amount of
Fury,
Might and
Swiftness on swapping pets (via ).
Unfortunately, the need for CC on your pets limits your ability to provide other boons via pet abilities, though this is less of an issue on encounters with shorter phases and split phases where you can recover arrows.
The majority of boon specs can generate 50%+ uptime on
Fury, so Galeshot's is noticeably low. If you absolutely need to provide more, you could swap to . This is a relatively small DPS loss, but you would only generate an extra ~30%
Fury. You should use
Raptor Swiftwing instead of
Fanged Iboga in this case.
Rotation
Galeshot's most important utility is . For the duration of this skill, every projectile fired through it will deal a small extra hit of damage and so the build uses two projectile weapon sets (plus the Cyclone Bow), and the burst is centred around launching as many projectiles in that six-second window as possible.
Thanks to , and reset 's cooldown, allowing you to use it in quick succession for boons
Opener
Start on Longbow. If you are pet swapping, start on
Carrion Devourer and use as soon as you can (it has no cast time for you), then pet swap.
- (optional) - you only want to use this if you can precast it before the encounter begins as otherwise you'll want to start providing
Quickness as soon as possible - - Using F5 to dismiss the bow will not interrupt the cast of your current skill
Weapon Swap
Axe Section
- (if available)
- - this launches you backward so be careful with positioning and run back to the group immediately.
- Autoattack until Bluster is available
- - cast this as soon as it comes off cooldown, you don't need to wait for Whirling Defense to finish
Weapon Swap
Longbow Section
- (if available)
- (if Perfect Storm was not used this loop)
Weapon Swap- Return to start of Axe Section
General Tips
- is an evade, and you can slightly adjust its position in the Cyclone Bow section in order to avoid dodging - don't end up delaying though.
- If you are pet swapping, do so just after , then swap back as soon as possible and use immediately. Swap once more after the next .
Carrion Devourer is the best pet swap for DPS. You can also restore arrows if you make sure it is in melee range so it will use its knockback attack.
- If arrow generation is not a priority, you can also wait for a second use of before swapping back.
CC
Due to and , you use your CC during your rotation. You could bring a pet such as
Electric Wyvern to swap to if you need more, and you have some flexibility to delay your pet's skill as well to make it line up with defiance bars.
