Usage
Holosmith Basics
- The
Holosmith elite specalization gives access to Photon Forge as a replacement for your elite toolbelt skill. - While Photon Forge provides access to unique and powerful skills, being in Photon Forge and using it's skills fills your heat bar. Once the heat bar is full, you Overheat, making you lose a lot of health and putting Photon Forge and the rest of your toolbelt skills on cooldown.
- On this build specifically, means Overheat doesn't deal as much damage to yourself and instead deals very large damage to enemies nearby.
General
- While this build lacks survival, it has a lot of mobility which it can use to escape any unfavorable fight. Mobility comes from:
- , , ,
- This build severely lacks condi cleanse. and are your only condi cleanses.
- is a stunbreak and provides stability thanks to .
- Using before can be used as an offensive way to ensure your Slick Shoes actually lands on your opponent.
- makes a lesser trigger twice when you use . These goggles are buffed by .
- This build is best used on enemies that are capturing nodes or other map objectives. While it can be used in teamfights, enemies will already be using a lot of dodges, blocks, aegis, healing, and revival skills that can make it harder to get value.
- Typically start matches by oneshotting the enemy at the far node. To do this, preheat before the starting gates open and enter stealth about halfway to the node. Most of the time, it is possible to reach the far node before the opponents cap it.
- While this build struggles in 1v1 scenarios, the idea is to oneshot the opponent and end the fight before they have a chance to use a single skill. Oneshotting is explained below:
Oneshot
- The oneshot comes in three steps: Preheating, Stealthing, Oneshot
Preheating
- Whenever you are not in a fight, use your Photon Forge skills to fill up your heat. You should fill up the heat bar to about 95% full. will keep this heat from going down.
- Ideally the last skill you use is , since it pulses adding heat even when you are not in Photon Forge. Even if these pulses fill your heat bar up all the way, it will not Overheat you.
Stealth
- Stealth is obtained by using a lot of leap finishers and blast finishers in a smoke field. Use the following combination of skills to stealth:
- (Enter Bomb Kit)
- (This skill is a blast finisher that takes a while to activate. This is why it is cast before the smoke field)
- (Smoke Field)
- (Blast Finisher)
- (Leave Bomb Kit)
- (Leap Finisher)
- (This skills is a blast finisher that also launches you far in the direction you need to go.)
This should give you around 13 seconds of stealth after finishing the combo.
Since bombs have a large range and damage enemies, any enemy who walks near you and into your bombs as they detonate will reveal you.
A few skills can be seen by opponents even when you are in stealth. The important ones are which leaves an explosion on the ground when used, and which leaves a hexagon on the ground when used. Try to avoid or hide these behind walls when in stealth or enemies will see you approaching.
Oneshot
- In order to kill almost any player no matter their health, the following four attacks need to land at the same time:
- Overheat
- When preheated, stealthed, and ready, enter photon forge with and use to overheat. Once you are back on your spear weapon set, use to get close to your enemy and deal additional damage.
- If you are preheated to 100% heat, you can't use before you overheat. If you are only preheated to around 90%, won't overheat you. This is why it's important to aim for about 95% of the heat bar while preheating.
- triggers when you first attack an enemy in battle and when you first attack an enemy after you dodge. Since this oneshot attack hits on the first time you attack the enemy in battle, will always hit with your oneshot.
- triggers in 2 parts. The first part deals very little damage. Since you will use this skill to overheat, it's important that the first part doesn't hit anyone near you or it will reveal you. Then, the second part, which deals the majority of the damage, will hit at the same time as Overheat and .
This oneshot can miss if used on a tanky guardian with aegis.
This oneshot can miss if used on a necromancer in shroud.
This oneshot can miss if you are hit with cc before devastator lands. To ensure it lands, use for its stability.
