Designed for: Open World and Open World General

Expansions required: Visions of Eternity builds

Difficulty:
Easy

This build was last updated on July 21, 2026 and is up to date for the June 2, 2026 patch.

Overview

Boon DPS paragon Paragon is a high boon support elite specialization. Paragons boost their allies by providing permanent Alacrity Alacrity, Fury Fury, and large amounts of Might Might. This build is also extremely fast due to Dual Wielding (which also heals) and the self-only Quickness Quickness it can generate with the right Relic.

As a downside, it is melee only and lacks AoE damage.

Weapon Variants

Dagger Dagger/Mace Mace + Sword Sword/Axe Axe is the default setup. Usage of Dagger Dagger requires Secrets of the Obscure.

  • Axe Axe - replaces mainhand dagger for players without SotO.

Skill Variants

Heal Skills

We default to Mending for its high healing, condition removal, and synergy with Peak Performance. Other options can be considered:

  • "We Shall Return!" - support option that also heals allies.
  • Defiant Stance - makes you immortal for a few seconds.

Utility skills

We default to:
Bull's Charge for mobility, evade, and synergy with Peak Performance.
Signet of Fury for more adrealine with its active skill and synergy with Signet Mastery.
Signet of Might for a generic damage increase through its passive skill. Never activate it. Can be replaced for other utility skills such as:

  • Banner of Strength - support option with crowd control on cast and then pulsing Might Might generation.
  • "Shake It Off!" - stunbreak and more condition removal for self and allies.

Elite Skills

Signet of Rage is taken purely for the synergy with Signet Mastery since the other elite skill options are not generally useful. In extremely rare situations, it can be replaced by:

  • Battle Standard - in extremely rare situations, you can take this banner to revive allies.
  • "We Will Never Yield!" - in extremely rare situations, you can take this to make allies immortal for a few seconds. For example, to negate a oneshot attack.

Specializations

Variants

  • Might Makes Right - sacrifices damage for sustain.
  • Brisk Pacing - if playing in a group and someone else is already providing Alacrity Alacrity. Or if playing solo and you need more damage.

Relic

If you are gearing this character from zero, start with exotic quality gear. Search the trading post for "Devona" armor, "Usoku's Needle" dagger, "Serpentstone" mace, "Twin Sisters" sword, and "Maw of the Damned" axe. Upgrade to ascended gear as you progress. See also: Guide:How to Gear a Character. Usage of Dagger Dagger requires Secrets of the Obscure. Players without SotO can use mainhand Axe Axe instead.

  • The Arms Arms traitline gives a noticeable increase to critical chance.
  • For relic alternatives, you can consider Relic of the Claw or Relic of the Thief for more damage if you don't have access to Pirate Queen or you're playing in a group and someone else is already providing Quickness Quickness, or Relic of Zakiros to trade damage for sustain.

Consumables

Budget consumables are acceptable for use in open world.

  • Prioritize Steak Ascended food.

Usage

Chants and motivation

Chants are the profession mechanic of the paragon. Activating a Chant gives Alacrity Alacrity thanks to Feverish Pulse. After activation, Chants pulse boons (called Refrain) for as long as you have Motivation, with higher Motivation pulsing more boons.

You gain Motivation when you use a Chant, or when you use a Burst skill while you have a Chant pulsing boons (called Refrain). While at 7 or higher motivation, the boons pulsed from your Chants (the Refrain) are stronger and you grow cosmetic wings.

Usability

  • You automatically start combat with 4 Motivation and Chant of Action due to the trait Call to Action. However, this does not trigger Feverish Pulse, so you want to use Chant of Action yourself as soon as possible. Maintaining the Refrain of Chant of Action additionally improves your damage thanks to Strengthening Stanzas
  • Spam Chant of Action. You always want to stay on Chant of Action pulsing its Refrain to provide permanent Fury Fury and large amounts of Might Might. To supplement Alacrity, use Chant of Recuperation but followed by Chant of Action to continue pulsing offensive boons.
  • If needed, use Chant of Freedom for Stability Stability and stunbreak, but return to Chant of Action as soon as possible.
  • Periodically use Signet of Fury for more adrenaline and stacks of Signet Mastery. Signet of Rage should be used off-cooldown to maintain that same trait.
  • Spend excess adrenaline on your weapon Burst skills.
  • Swap weapons pretty much off-cooldown to use their weapon and Burst skills and trigger Inspiring Implements. Sword skills are important to maintain Bleeding Bleeding on your enemy and activate Deep Strikes and Bloodlust.

Boon generation

By spamming Chant of Action and maintaining its Refrain, you provide permanent Alacrity Alacrity, Fury Fury, and large amounts of Might Might. You need to use Chant of Recuperation from time to time to maintain Alacrity, but always follow it up with Chant of Action to continue pulsing offensive boons.

Additionally, you provide yourself only with permanent Quickness Quickness thanks to the Relic of the Pirate Queen. This, together with Dual Wielding, makes you attack extremely fast. Dual Strike also helps maintain Quickness.

Defense

  • Minor healing from Dual Wielding.
  • Chant of Recuperation gives barrier and minor healing.
  • Chant of Freedom gives Stability Stability, defensive boons based on your Motivation, and breaks stun.
  • Mending cleanse conditions.
  • More endurance from Building Momentum.
  • Damage reduction from Unyielding Resolve.

Crowd Control

  • Bull's Charge
  • Disrupting Stab
  • Tremor
  • CC over time from Aura Slicer and Rend.

Great boon generation and extremely fast with Pirate Queen relic and Dual Wielding Trait. It lacks AoE damage but it's fun to play.
