Relic

If you are gearing this character from zero, start with exotic quality gear. Search the trading post for "Devona" armor. Then search for the weapons you want to use: "Bonetti's Rapier" sword, "Ironfist" hammer. Upgrade to ascended gear as you progress. See also: Guide:How to Gear a Character.

  • You can use Relic of Zakiros to trade a minor amount of damage for sustain, or Relic of the Cavalier to start combat with boons.
  • For defense, equip the highest tier Jade Core you can afford.

Consumables

Budget consumables are acceptable for use in open world.

  • Prioritize Steak Ascended food.

Usage

This build is very simple to use. While in Shiro, use Impossible Odds while attacking. While in Jalis, use Vengeful Hammers.

Swap legends off cooldown to regain energy. Ancient Echo also recovers energy.

When using swords, spend your energy on Chilling Isolation, Shackling Wave, and Deathstrike. Do not waste energy on Unrelenting Assault except as an emergency dodge.

When using hammer, spend your energy on Coalescence of Ruin, Phase Smash, and Drop the Hammer.

Defense

  • Always dodge and sidestep attacks where possible. Your actual defensive skills cost energy, so manage them carefully and predict when you need to avoid attacks in advance.
  • You can use Unrelenting Assault or Riposting Shadows as an evade.
  • Field of the Mists blocks projectiles.
  • Forced Engagement provides very high damage reduction for a relatively low energy cost.
  • Rite of the Great Dwarf is a powerful damage reduction effect. It also activates for free for a small duration when using Ancient Echo while channelling Jalis.
  • Dance of Death and Roiling Mists heal quite a lot.
  • Phase Smash is an evade.

Crowd Control

  • Shackling Wave
  • Jade Winds
  • Forced Engagement
  • Drop the Hammer

A decent starter build for revenant; it's not capable of competing with the more powerful condi renegade or power bombardment build but can hold its own for leveling purposes.
