Usage

This section is a WIP.

Elite specialization basics

  • Soulbeast Soulbeast allows Rangers to meld/merge with their pet, becoming one. This is done through Beastmode which has a 10s CD.
  • Pet related traits and skills such as Pet's Prowess continue to function even while merged, but this time you'll be the one who benefits from them, not the pet (although sometimes the effects are lessened).
    • IMPORTANT: skills that affect your pet like "Sic 'Em!" have to be used after merging if you wish to benefit from them, already active skill effects will be lost just like when swapping pets.
  • You get to revive pets in combat by melding with a dead pet and then exiting Beastmode.

General

  • The gist of the build is to enter combat by dumping your Longbow Longbow skills, notably Barrage, then swapping to Sword Sword / Warhorn Warhorn and using Hunter's Call. Swapping weapons while in combat activates the namesake Quick Draw, resulting in Hunter's Call's cooldown being reduced to 5 seconds. One call triggers Relic of the Mist Stranger 16 times which is an extra 1200 points in value. When weapon swap is up again, swap back to Longbow Longbow and either Rapid Fire or Barrage, with the latter being the priority. Swapping on cooldown is usually the best play here.
  • Meld with your Smokescale and use its abilities to burst or evade attacks. Smoke Assault (soulbeast) is of particular note, giving you 1.5 seconds of evasion and also dealing damage.

Sustain

  • You'll always want to be hitting something if you can; each hit heals you for 34 with Relic of the Mist Stranger.
  • Smokescale Smokescale's Smoke Assault (soulbeast) is an instant defensive skill with evasion while merged.
  • Owl Owl's Swoop (soulbeast) is a very quick mobility option that should be used to reposition, chase, or escape rather than deal damage.
  • Cleanse: each Survival skill cleanses 2 conditions, with Troll Unguent cleansing an additional 2 thanks to Child of Earth. Melding with your Owl Owl gives access to Spiritual Reprieve. Swapping weapons cleanses a condition, and if all else fails, dodging will give you Protection Protection which activates Second Skin.
  • Dodging and entering/exiting beast mode gives Protection Protection. Second Skin causes conditions to deal less damage while you have protection. Natural Vigor along with Primal Reflexes give you a lot of energy so you can dodge fairly liberally.
  • Every mobility skill is also a defensive skill in a way, useful for putting distance between you and your enemies. Comboing them with Smokescale's Smoke Cloud for Stealth Stealth makes you even more slippery.
  • Call of the Wild is one the best defensive skill on Sword/Warhorn, dazing targets in melee and applying Weakness Weakness to them while also being a Blast finisher that could give you stealth. The other one is Serpent's Strike which makes you evade incoming attacks.
