Virtuoso - Condi Chaos DPS

The community gave this build a rating, making it second-tier: Good

Focused on: Condition damage

Designed for: Raids and Fractals

Expansions required: End of Dragons builds

Difficulty:
Easy
This build was last updated on December 23, 2023 and is up to date for the October 8, 2024 patch.

Overview

Like the more hybrid-damage Condition Virtuoso, the Chaos variant is a powerful ranged condition DPS build with innate sustain. This build trades a bit of damage for a much simpler rotation and increased durability.

This build inflicts enormous amounts of Bleeding Bleeding damage through critical hits while generating lots of Blades to use Bladesongs essentially off cooldown. It is quite simple, yet effective, but very dependent on having the right gear. In addition this build is very dependent on high Regeneration Regeneration uptime, which you are unable to reliably apply to yourself, to try to make sure you're in a group with a support that provides it.

Utility
  • Rain of Swords can be dropped for more utility if needed.
  • Signet of Illusions can replace Rain of Swords for a higher burst via refreshing your Bladesongs, but at the cost of cleave.

Specializations

  • Phantasmal Force is a small DPS increase, so if you would get some benefit out of Master of Fragmentation (and don't need the Might Might) you could make the switch.

Relic
  • If you want to vary your equipment, you want to aim for 2155 precision and 100% bleed duration.
  • If you want to greatly simplify the rotation, you could swap the Sigil of Superior Sigil of Geomancy for a Sigil of Superior Sigil of Bursting and camp Torch. This is only a minor DPS loss.

Non-SotO Gear

For players that don't own Secrets of the Obscure, Relic of the Aristocracy is the best option, but this requires different gear:

Utility

Usage

Condition Virtuoso's rotation is incredibly simple:

  • Charge Mantra of Recovery before the fight starts.
  • Open with Unstable Bladestorm The Prestige Rain of Swords Bladeturn Requiem Power Return
  • Use Bladecall and Unstable Bladestorm off cooldown.
  • Use Power Return every ~23 seconds to trigger Method of Madness. This has almost the same cooldown as Bladeturn Requiem, so it is convenient to cast them together.
  • Alternate Power Return and Phantasmal Mage with a 10s+ gap in between to trigger Relic of Akeem (if using).
  • Spam Bladesongs when you reach 5 blades, with the following priority:
    1. Bladeturn Requiem
    2. Bladesong Sorrow
    3. Bladesong Harmony
    4. Bladesong Dissonance
    5. Bladesong Distortion
  • Weapon Swap Weapon Swap off cooldown to trigger Sigil of Superior Sigil of Geomancy. You can skip this step if you use a Sigil of Superior Sigil of Bursting instead.
  • Use The Prestige whenever it's available - make sure to manually attack afterwards as the stealth will prevent your autoattack.
  • Phantasm skills are a tiny DPS increase, but can be good to generate extra blades. You can very easily hold on to either if you need the CC or projectile defence.

Video example

Crowd control

  • Phantasmal Mage
  • Temporal Curtain Into the Void - if using Focus
  • Magic Bullet - if using Pistol
  • Bladesong Dissonance
  • Signet of Domination - only as a last resort

Very nice introduction to virtuoso, providing good damage with very minimal input. The downside is that it loses a lot of DPS if it loses regeneration, and the "full" condi virtuoso build isn't that much harder but performs quite a bit better.

This build is great for me since my ping is at usually 230-250ms. I dont need to worry about skipping a step because of the ping issue. The variant that lets you camp torch is nice. I can focus more on the mechanics and not worrying whether I skipped a step that would lead to a dps loss. I even use this build for open world and didnt have a problem with survivability.
