Overview

A core warrior build for levelling or unlocking elite specializations. This build inflicts large amounts of crowd control, which maintains permanent Quickness Quickness from Aggressive Onslaught, and generates plenty of Adrenaline and Stability Stability.

As a downside, it doesn't have any ranged damage, but it has three leaps with which to close the gap.

Weapon Variants

We recommend mace Mace + Offhand mace Offhand mace for their damage and crowd control. For the other weapon set, we recommend hammer Hammer for its damage and crowd control.

Skill Variants

Healing skill

We default to Mending for its high healing, low cooldown, and condition removal.

Utility skills

We default to:
Bull's Charge for its great damage, mobility, and crowd control. Do not replace it.
Frenzy as a stunbreak that also provides offensive boons. Can be replaced by other alternatives.
And Stomp for mobility and crowd control. Be careful with this skill, you don't want to launch groups of enemies. It is better to keep them grouped to kill them faster with cleave and AoE damage. Can be replaced by other alternatives.
Other alternatives can be considered:

  • "Shake It Off!" - alternative defensive stunbreak that also cleanses conditions.
  • Kick (warrior utility) - alternative single-target crowd control skill.

Elite skill

We default to Signet of Rage. The passive is not too enticing because this build already generates plenty of adrenaline, but the active is good for Swiftness Swiftness for mobility and to start combat with Might Might and Fury Fury. In some situations, this can be replaced by:

  • Battle Standard - revives allies, then provides the same boons as Signet of Rage but in an AoE, making it a good option against bosses.

Usage

The basis of this build is crowd control. By inflicting crowd control, you gain a plethora of boons, plus some more from mobility skills or simply swapping weapons:

  • Permanent Quickness Quickness and higher movement speed from Aggressive Onslaught.
  • Permanent Fury Fury from Opportunist and Furious Burst.
  • Plenty of Stability Stability from Brave Stride and Stalwart Strength.
  • Plenty of Adrenaline for burst attacks from Merciless Hammer and Opportunist.
  • Plenty of Vulnerability Vulnerability generation from Body Blow.
  • Much higher critical chance from Pinnacle of Strength, Furious Burst, Deep Strikes (activated by Bloodlust), and Unsuspecting Foe.

Review your sources of crowd control at the end of the guide.

Maces

On maces, use Pommel Bash and the combo Crushing Blow Tremor Crushing Blow for damage and crowd control. Use Counterblow Tactical Blow by activating the skill twice to deal damage, or save Counterblow to block a dangerous attack.
Use the Skull Crack Burst skill for damage and crowd control against single targets.

Hammer

On hammer, use all skills for damage. Follow the combo Fierce Blow Backbreaker Fierce Blow for more damage.
Use the Earthshaker Burst skill for damage and crowd control in an AoE.

Defense

  • Counterblow can block one attack.
  • Bull's Charge is also a dodge.
  • Whirlwind Attack is a dodge.
  • Mending also cleanses conditions.

Good damage, excellent crowd control and quickness generation, stability is always nice. All in all, an excellent build to play while levelling or while unlocking your first elite spec.
