Overview

Support Scrapper build guide for EBG. The primary role of a Support Scrapper in WvW is condition cleanse and healing. Support scrapper is the top class in these areas. Their condition cleanse support is further augmented by their conversion of conditions into boons. Additionally provides access to Template:Gw2wiki, Template:Gw2skill, and Template:Gw2skill. Ideally 1 per subgroup.

Gameplay

  • The most important aspect of playing Support Scrapper is swapping kits effectively. Be actively swapping between your weapon skills, Elixir Gun, and Med Kit
  • Priority cleanse skills: Fumigate, Cleansing Field, and Purge Gyro
  • Fumigate is tied for the biggest cleanse on cleanses per use, but only has an 11s cooldown without alacrity. You want to be on top of this cooldown, but can hold it if condition cleanse isn't immediately needed. Scrappers have so many cleanses it's better to use early than to hold.
  • You usually want to be in Med Kit aggressively using skills as needed, unless you are swapping out to use another skill. Med Blaster is spammable and a far superior filler to the Pistol 1/Elixir Gun 1 trap that some scrappers can fall into
  • If Fumigate isn't up and Med Kit skills are on cooldown, you can swap to your weapon skills to use shield for additional protection.
  • If running hammer, look for opportunities to lock down enemies with Thunderclap when your subgroup doesn't immediately need sustain
  • Save Healing Mist for yourself as it is your only stun break
  • Be careful with Bulwark Gyro, Rocket Charge, and Acid Bomb...they can get you killed!

Weapons

Scrappers cannot change weapons in combat so either Pistol/Shield or Hammer are used.


Pistol:

  • Pistol is taken due to lack of other 1 hand options for Scrapper
  • Fragmentation Shot if you see this in your combat log, you messed up and thought you were on Med Kit and weren't


Shield:

  • Shield provides Template:Gw2wiki, additional condition cleanse, and defense for the scrapper.
  • Magnetic Shield (engineer) 3s duration projectile reflect the same radius as the scrapper's hitbox. Grants Template:Gw2wiki to 5 allies from Over Shield and will remove 1 condition per ally if also running Anticorrosion Plating
    • Magnetic Inversion follow-up that knocks back 5 targets. Blast finisher
  • Static Shield 2.5 channel that blocks and stuns enemies that hit you while channeling. Grants Template:Gw2wiki to 5 allies from Over Shield and will remove 1 condition per ally if also running Anticorrosion Plating
    • Throw Shield follow-up medium range daze on up to 5 enemies


Hammer:

  • Hammer is an alternative to Pistol/Shield that trades some conditions cleanse and some Template:Gw2wiki generation for a ranged stun that can be used to create kill opportunities.
  • Electro-whirl whirl finisher for additional condition cleanse on light fields or Template:Gw2skill on water fields
  • Rocket Charge leap that is likely to kill you. Use with care and maybe not at all.
  • Shock Shield 2s block that can be useful for pushing
  • Thunderclap ranged AOE 5 target stun. Lightning field

Utilities

Required Utilities

  • Always run Med Kit, Elixir Gun, Purge Gyro, and Sneak Gyro
  • Med Kit changes your weapon skills to a heal oriented kit
    • Med Blaster spammable AOE heal. Can cast repeatedly but holding down the button while waiting for other cooldowns
    • Bandage Blast heal + Template:Gw2skill for 5 allies ahead of the scrapper
    • Cleansing Field pulsing AOE cleanse around where first cast. Water field that can be blasted for AOE healing
    • Vital Burst large AOE heal around the scrapper. This is a burst heal and should be used as such. Don't blow it when autoattacks will top everyone off.
    • Infusion Bomb grants allies Template:Gw2skill, Template:Gw2skill, and Template:Gw2skill after a 1s delay. Blast finisher
  • Elixir Gun changes your weapon skills to an elixir gun
    • Tranquilizer Dart if you see this in your combat log, you messed up and thought you were on Med Kit and weren't
    • Glob Shot grant Template:Gw2skill to allies and Template:Gw2skill to enemies. An option if you go into Elixir Gun too early and Fumigate isn't ready. Best used on melee range.
    • Fumigate your biggest condi cleanse removing up to 25 conditions from allies in a cone in front of the scrapper on an 11s cooldown. The scrapper will turn and face their target on cast, so be mindful of this. A strategy is to target the tag as most cleanse support should be needed there. Channeled skill, make sure the channel completes for maximum effect.
    • Acid Bomb leap back (use carefully) and blast finisher. The scrapper can weapon swap immediately after the cast completes to cancel all or part of the leap back
    • Super Elixir ranged pulsing AOE heal. The first pulse heals for more. Light field that can be blasted for area condition cleanse. A useful combo is to use Super Elixir on the group and then blast with Acid Bomb
  • Purge Gyro AOE condition cleanse that removes 1 condition per ally per pulse for 5 pulses (25 conditions) and moves with the scrapper. Grants Template:Gw2skill to the scrapper and nearby allies. Should be used nearly off cooldown. Light field that can be blasted for area condition cleanse
  • Sneak Gyro pulsing AOE that applies Template:Gw2skill and Template:Gw2skill in an area around the scrapper. Smoke field that can be blasted for additional stealth. Generally saved for stealth callouts


Preferred Third Utility

  • Bulwark Gyro protects 5 nearby allies and transfers 35% of their strike damage received to the scrapper (does not affect conditions). The scrapper gains significant initial barrier and more barrier as it pulses. Grants Template:Gw2skill to the scrapper and nearby allies. This ability can overwhelm the scrapper with incoming damage and it's important to have self-heals (like Bandage Self) available prior to using. Consider running if additional group stability is needed (see Defense Field below).
  • Shredder Gyro repeatedly uses whirl finishers in an area around the scrapper and dealing damage to enemies. Grants Template:Gw2skill to the scrapper and nearby allies. Whirl finishers can be used to condi cleanse on light fields and heal on water fields


Toolbelt Skills

  • Bandage Self toolbelt large self-heal that also grants Template:Gw2skill to the scrapper and nearby allies. Useful after using Bulwark Gyro so prevent the scrapper from killing themselves. Unlike Superspeed from Gyros, the Superspeed from this skill is granted as soon as the cast completes
  • Healing Mist toolbelt 5 target Template:Gw2skill around the scrapper. Stun break that is best saved for breaking CC as it is the scrapper's only stun break.
  • Defense Field toolbelt from Bulwark Gyro that grants 3 stacks of Template:Gw2skill to 5 allies and puts up a protective dome for 5 seconds that blocks projectiles around the scrapper
  • Spare Capacitor toolbelt from Shredder Gyro that is an AOE daze in an area around where cast. Can use on melee to interrupt enemies, but cleanse and healing are usually preferred
  • Function Gyro toolbelt skill that is always equipped. Grants Template:Gw2skill to the scrapper and nearby allies. Used to resurrect allies or finish downed enemies in an area. Usually better to use aggressively for Superspeed, saving allies, or finishing downs as we move off. Lightning field

  • Cleansing Synergy the F1 tool belt skill Bandage Self in this build also removes 1 condition from 5 nearby allies. Does not work with medkit skills
  • Over Shield Grants Template:Gw2wiki to allies when using shield skills and reduces their cooldown. Improves Protection on the scrapper. Synergizes with Anticorrosion Plating to remove additional conditions from allies. Required if running shield
  • Autodefense Bomb Dispenser drops a Smoke Bomb (engineer) when the scrapper is damaged which applies a pulsing blind to enemies in the area reducing incoming squad damage. The best option if running hammer
  • Reconstruction Enclosure the F1 tool belt skill Bandage Self in this build also gives Template:Gw2wiki to 5 nearby allies. Synergizes with Anticorrosion Plating to remove additional conditions from allies. Does not work with medkit skills
  • Soothing Detonation tool belt skills (F1-F5) heal allies when used. Best option in this tier
  • Mecha Legs if you're really struggling with CC. Generally not needed
  • Anticorrosion Plating cleanses a condition every time the Scrapper gives Template:Gw2wiki to an ally. Synergizes with Over Shield, Reconstruction Enclosure, and Durability runes. Cleanse focused trait in this tier
  • Medical Dispersion Field 25% of self-healing is applied to 5 nearby allies. Doesn't work for overhealing except on heals from Bandage Self, Vital Burst, and Compounding Chemicals. Heal focused trait in this tier and the option if running hammer

Relevant Traits and Variants

  • Health Insurance increases incoming healing by 10% (synergizes with Medical Dispersion Field) and Med Kit healing by 7%
  • Transmute converts 2 conditions on the Scrapper to boons every 60s.
  • Comeback Cure grant Template:Gw2skill every time the scrapper removes a condition from an ally. A significant source of healing for the scrapper.
  • Compounding Chemicals self-heal when you grant yourself a boon (synergizes with Medical Dispersion Field. Gain concentration
  • Purity of Purpose instead of removing conditions when cleansing the scrapper converts them to boons (2s internal cooldown). Very strong trait and mandatory for this build

Relevant Traits and Variants

  • Gyroscopic Acceleration causes your gyros to grant Template:Gw2skill when they finish channeling. Mandatory trait in this tier
  • Speed of Synergy the F1 tool belt skill Bandage Self in this build also gives Template:Gw2skill to 5 nearby allies
  • Damage Dampener delivers 20% of incoming strike damage after a 2 second delay. Smooths out the incoming damage to the scrapper. All damage is still received, but less spikey

Exotic is fine until you are able to upgrade to ascended/legendary. Scrapper cannot weapon swap in combat. Rather, the scrapper starts in set 1 until they've built up 25 stacks of Benevolence then swap to set 2 for more healing. If the scrapper downs, they will need to repeat this process

The same sigils and stats are used if running hammer.

  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Frenzy cooldown reduction on enemy kills. Relative to other support classes scrappers get more kill credit and can benefit from this sigil
  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Transference additional healing on allies
  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Benevolence or Sigil of Superior Sigil of Life additional healing on allies
  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Energy more dodges
  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Concentration additional boon uptime


Runes

  • Rune of Superior Rune of Durability tanky boon support option. Generally best option for boon support and tankiness
  • Rune of Superior Rune of the Monk additional healing. Generally best healing option
  • Rune of Superior Rune of Sanctuary tanky option that can make Scrapper nearly unkillable in zerg

Consumables

Feasts are always preferable to personal food for the additional stat from the ascended herb. They also give bonus WXP.
