Overview

A Power DPS build for those who want their ranger to focus only on a longbow. It can self-sustain high Might Might stacks, up to 25, and spam Longbow 5: Barrage on every weapons swap. This build can be used in many game types: open world, party content, WvW zergs. There are maybe more meta-tailored builds out there, but for those, who simply want a longbow ranger, this build is for you.

Specializations

Specialization Variants

If you prefer a core ranger, or if you are a free-to-play player and do not own the Path Of Fire expansion, you can swap the Soulbeast specialization with the Wilderness Survival or the Beastmastery. Wilderness Survival will give you the personal boons and plenty of conditions cleansing, while Beastmastery will provide the boons support for you and your allies.

Skills

  • Healing: Troll Unguent - this will cleanse 4 conditions in total, 2, as this is a Survival skill, and 2 more, as it will trigger Child of Earth, which will activate another Survival skill, Lesser Muddy Terrain
  • Muddy Terrain
  • Quickening Zephyr
  • Lightning Reflexes
  • Elite: "Strength of the Pack!"

Skills

  • Healing: "We Heal As One!"
  • "Guard!"
  • "Sic 'Em!"
  • "Protect Me!"
  • Elite: "Strength of the Pack!"

Consumables

Power-based food and utilities, based on the size of your gold purse.

Usage

This build is based around the weapon swaps and the Quick Draw trait in the Skirmishing specialization, which lets you use the Longbow 5: Barrage on every weapon swap.

Opener

  1. Elite: One Wolf Pack
  2. Moa Stance, to prepare for the Might Might stacks burst from the next attacks
  3. Longbow 2: Rapid Fire, it's multi-hit attack will generate a lot of Might Might stacks
  4. Weapons Swap, Sigil of Superior Sigil of Battle will generate 5 Might Might stacks
  5. Longbow 5: Barrage right after the weapons swap, so the Quick Draw trait will be applied to it to lower its cooldown. It's a multi-hit attack, so it will also generate a lot of Might Might stacks
  6. Autoattacks and Longbow 2: Rapid Fire, when it comes off cooldown, until the new weapons swap is ready

Loop

  1. Elite: One Wolf Pack and Moa Stance on cooldown, but always position them before shooting Longbow 2: Rapid Fire or Longbow 5: Barrage for the maximum benefit
  2. Weapons Swap, as soon as it's available
  3. Longbow 5: Barrage with the Quick Draw trait active
  4. Autoattacks and Longbow 2: Rapid Fire, when it comes off cooldown, until the new weapons swap is ready
