Overview
Untamed is a highly survivable, powerful damage dealer and very useful melee offensive support with surprisingly high flexibility.
Featuring better control to its pets and access to the Unleashed Ambush type of skill, Untamed overall usefulness has another dimension beyond its pool of weapons and utility skills, and that dimension comes from pets. Similar to Soulbeast, Untamed can use and manage 3 different skills at will depending on the current pet, but unlike Soulbeast, these skills are tied to the pet, using its stats and animation locks (this means that you can use any pet skill without interrupting any of your own animations at all).
Untamed gets built-in and non-commital higher vitality than the rest of the Ranger specializations, extremely solid sustain and a wide array of defensive tools; with these qualities being inherent to itself there's no requirement to sacrifice part of its powerful offense, as such, it's usually considered one of the top-tier Open World specializations.
Regarding Untamed's playstyle, it is generally fast-paced, with many instant casts, a pet to manage and a rotation based on switching stances, improvisation on real encounters and a focus on the overall rotation loop. However, most of its skills can be queued and mistakes on the rotation are easy to manage and not considerably punishing, thus, can be considered a low skill floor/high skill ceiling specialization.
Untamed is somewhat limited by an important conditional, as it is having skills and traits that are reliant on enemies being defiant. While it is rare, easy to determine and doesn't suppose a massive loss, that is to consider.
Skill Bar
Skill Variants
- is an interesting option as it offers a cleanse and a water combo field.
makes you receive 100% less strike and condition damage and thus helping towards damage uptime. Can be replaced.
- is a solid alternative with similar damage and good CC.
- is a party wide stun-break.
can be replaced in case there's a need for other utilities.
- is a 10-man revive thanks to , however it can be replaced for whatever fits most.
Pet Variants
It's preferable to not to replace Tiger.
- Fanged Iboga provides a pull + immobilize with solid damage.
- 24px Aether Hunter provides a launch with solid damage.
- Jungle Stalker provides better Might uptime if it's of need.
- White Tiger provides party wide Aegis.
- Siege Turtle is a solid CC pet with additional access to a projectile barrier.
Template Code
Specializations
- Untamed's and Nature Magic's master traits are not important, and can be changed at will.
- This will come at a small DPS loss in exchange for access to some group-wide Vigor and Protection.
- This change will also reduce your access to CC by switching from a 400 breakbar skill with 360 AoE and a Cooldown of 20 seconds to a 200 breakbar skill with a considerably smaller AoE and a Cooldown of 25 seconds.
can be changed for by switching for .

Usage
Quickness
Untamed provides Quickness in a radius of 480 units around the Ranger with the trait .
- Every Unleashed Ambush grants Quickness.
- There's no need to hit a target to do this and thus it is possible to upkeep boons without any conditionals, yet note that Unleashed Ambush skills are your highest damage sources, so it's preferable to not to just mindlessly waste them.
- After an Unleashed Ambush, there will be a few seconds where Weapon Swap will allow the use of a second Unleashed Ambush.
- This second Unleashed Ambush will also grant Quickness.
As to provide Quickness to our group, we shall do the following sequence.
- comes off cooldown.
- In order to get access to the Unleashed Ambush, we'll need to be on
- We will usually dip there for a bit then proceed to , allowing us to use our current weapon's Unleashed Ambush.

Rotation
Start with
. Whenever the pet is unleashed you also want to be using your F1-3 skills off cooldown.- Similar to Mechanist, there's the option to set F1-3 skills on autocast (only the versions).
- On the general, it is preferred to set DPS skills on autocast while leaving situational/utility skills to be used at will.
Unleashing and your
F1-3 skills, are all instant cast so can be used during other skills. These skills are used off cooldown in the rotation, however, (F3) can be saved for its use as a mobile projectile block.Because of
, we want to use as many powerful skills as posible on in order to make use of the 25% damage boost.Throughout the rotation,
and shall be used off cooldown without delaying weapon skills. You can save for oncoming defiance bars.Do not delay Unleashed Ambush skills.
Opener
- All avaliable pet skills [F1-3]
- Reminder: These are instant casts, which means that you can use these pet skills while using any of the other pet skills and, both and without any animation commitment whatsoever.

- - 200 breakbar damage.
- Pull. - 150 breakbar damage and

- - 250 breakbar damage.
- Mace's breakbar damage can double thanks to Nature's Strength.
- 200 breakbar damage.
