Surviving

  • This build has moderate passive defense
  • This build has moderate mobility skill access
  • This build has low active defenses
  • Stay in Unleash Pet whenever you are at risk of dying (separated from group, pulled into enemy group, being single targetted) for the 15% damage reduction
    • Use Forest's Fortification when you anticipate a melee clash. Each target struck reduces its cooldown by 1 second. The resistance and 50% damage reduction given by the skill helps to sustain through a brawl

Detailed Explanations

Damage

  • Start fights on Spear
  • Use Rending Vines followed immediately by Venomous Outburst and Enveloping Haze as you spike.
    • Rending Vines takes 0.75 seconds to activate. Using Venomous Outburst and Enveloping Haze right before Rending Vines strikes helps the skill land by wasting blind and aegis on unimportant skills.
  • Weapon swapping recharges your ambush skills, allowing you to boon rip more frequently. They should almost always be prioritized as the first skills used when weapon swapping.
  • Be careful not to cancel your ambushes with weapon swaps or other skills, particularly Relentless Whirl
  • Make sure to be in Unleash Ranger state when spiking for the DPS increase and so you can use your ambush skills.
Spear
  • You'll often use Ravager's Abandon immediately before swapping into Hammer to combo with Relentless Whirl
  • Panther's Prowl should be used to empower Mongoose's Frenzy into Wolf's Onslaught
Hammer
  • In hammer be sure to use all skills while in Unleash Ranger for the substantial damage increase.
  • Unleashed Savage Shock Wave is your strongest non-ambush spiking skill but requires you to be nearly on top of an enemy for all 3 strikes to land.
  • Make sure not to cancel the follow-up swing of Unleashed Overbearing Smash, it has the majority of its damage and rips boons
  • Unleashed Thump hits hard, but is very hard to use due to forced movement. It is not worth casting if you'll miss more than 2 autos while getting back in position afterwards
  • Be careful with the forced movement from Unleashed Thump
    • Don't aim directly into the enemy group and make sure to drop your target before casting these skills
      • A Lock Autotarget keybind can be used to quickly drop your target

Boon rip

  • You have three sources of boon rip, Exploding Spores, Rending Vines and on Ambush skills via Corrupting Vines
    • When possible combine both with other members of your group spiking
  • Exploding Spores can strike up to 30 targets due to each spore having a 5 target cap
    • Prioritize positioning over hitting maximum targets - don't put yourself in the enemy stack to use this

CC

  • Savage Shock Wave applies Immobilize Immobilize, combine it with other spikes when possible
  • Combine Exploding Spores with Nature's Binding when possible

Very high spike and sustained damage, great cleave, good sustain and CC. Can bring plenty of immob with skill swaps. Boonripping is less than what can be achieved with Reaper/Scourge but this build is more of a DPS'er with added boon strips than a primary boon stripper. Only real downside is a lack of ranged damage.
