Designed for: Open World and Open World General

Overview

A survivable open world build for Specter. Can solo the toughest content by either kiting with Measured Shot or evading with Death Blossom and healing with Consume Shadows. While Celestial provides balanced stats this build will favor condition damage and can stack a large amount of Poison Poison and Torment Torment with Endless Night and the synergies in Deadly Arts. You can also provide permanent Alacrity Alacrity and give yourself 25 Might Might thanks to the boon duration and Rune of Superior Rune of the Aristocracy. In addition, Sigil of Superior Sigil of Draining on Dagger turns Well of Silence into a significant heal against larger groups.

  • - farming
  • - DPS
  • - defense
Utility
  • (and variants) - farming
  • , - dps
  • - dps if using gear with high toughness

Usage

  • Weakness Weakness gives you Might Might thanks to Rune of Superior Rune of the Aristocracy. Alternate Shadow Sap with Measured Shot/Endless Night to quickly stack up to 25 Might Might. Siphon also stacks might and gives you more initiative. When you're low on initiative use Enter Shadow Shroud and cycle through your attacks, then exit for a large heal thanks to Consume Shadows. Note that auto-attacking in shroud gives you Might Might and Eternal Night Eternal Night inflicts Weakness Weakness and gives you Might Might.
  • For foes that can't be kited or large groups switch to Dagger and use Death Blossom. You can pull larger groups in with Shadowfall. Well of Silence will provide large amounts of healing on large enemy groups thanks to Sigil of Superior Sigil of Draining and will also give you Might Might as it inflicts Weakness Weakness. If you need a reprieve use Cloak and Dagger to enter Stealth Stealth and exit with Backstab which grants you lots of Barrier thanks to Panaku's Ambition.
  • You can use Wells on cooldown to maintain permanent Alacrity Alacrity or save for when needed. Traversing Dusk provides a large amount of sustain with Measured Shot.

Still a decent build, just swap an utility skill or two.

This build can do it all outside of raids and high level fractals. Fantastic survivability, solid DPS, loads of CC, and AOE support. With a few modifications it works well in WVW too. One of my go to solo thief builds.

Effective in just about every category (albeit not the best) thanks to celestial stats, easily effective for condi/support in everything up to tier 3 fractals, although could be used in t4 and strikes depending on group comp. and the player's knowledge of the build.

I have played pretty much this build since the start of end of dragons; it's amazing in open world: self-survivability, ally-survivability w/o giving up anything, legit damage albeit not glass-cannon level, and tons of fun. I use tormenting runes since I don't have aristocracy however I plan to grab them to try them out at some point when I get around to running the dungeons. I played bounding daredevil for years prior to EoD and didn't think I'd find something to replace it, however I haven't touched it since and even pivoted my legendary from Nevermore to Xiuquatl. It should definitely be out of the "test" category and set to Great if not Meta imo.
