Front Page

MetaBattle is a database for Guild Wars 2 builds, teams, and guides. These are created and rated by the community. Our team helps curate this list by tagging some of them as meta. Though meta generally indicates popularity/effectiveness, in Guild Wars 2 there are some caveats. Our PvE team will generally indicate meta for a build that does well for it's profession in instanced content. (In this case, meta is not cross-profession). For WvW/PvP builds, meta happens to be what the very top of the player base is using in tournaments/competitive play. Our hope is that these lists of builds will help the community decide what is stronger/easier to play. The community is capable of ranking all builds on their own as well. So regardless of whether a build is meta or not, you can see what the community has ranked the build.

Our team consists of multiple members. On the PvE side we are helped by Snow Crows, a top-tier dungeon/raid guild, as well as some prominent theorycrafters from the community: DEKeyz, towelcat, et al. On WvW builds we rely on Haru, captain of Gun Squad, a premier GvG guild that has won many matchups and the June 2015 T2 GvG Invitational. For PvP builds, our moderator Hanz, helps watch weekly/monthly tournaments to determine what the pros are playing and why. Following is a list of builds submitted by the community and curated by our team.

The community is encouraged to interact with the site. We've heard multiple issues about how hard the system was to use and we've tried to simplify a great deal of the work involved. The only feature requiring a MetaBattle account is rating a build. Comments can be submitted as a guest (but you'll have better features when signing into Disqus).

Hovering over pieces of this row will give you extra information. For instance the skill boxes will tell you what the skill name is in the tooltip. The three lines will tell the "roles" the build is loosely guided towards. The trait names will tell you which traits to choose inside that trait line. The rating percent will tell you how many people voted in parentheses (e.g. "100% (6)" means six people voted to give the build a 100% rating).

You can click directly on the title to be taken to the build, on the rating to be taken to the ratings section, and the comment box to be taken to the comments section powered by Disqus.

To rate a build you must be logged in. After logging in you'll see that you can now choose between Basic, Good, or Great and type a message before hitting "next". It is required to choose a rating and type a comment. The guidelines in the next section will give you some ideas of what to type.

To comment on a build as a guest:

  • Type a message in the "Join the discussion..." input
  • Click the input box below "or sign up with disuqs"
  • Check "I'd rather post as a guest"

Finally, to take things to the next level we now have a MetaBattle Discord server. Discord is a text chat server that’s free, secure, and can work directly in your browser (though you may download the app on both desktop and mobile devices). After following the link, choose a name and continue on to the server. It is honestly that easy! You can discuss general topics, submit a bug-report, or peruse our pvp, pve, and wvw channels. This is probably the quickest way to contact someone on the team for site-wide issues or other higher-level conversations.

To wrap everything up, we also have:
