Sentinel - Greatsword + Staff Large Scale PvP Build
- High Burst AoE Damage
- High Single Target DPS
- Gear Dependant
- Low Utility
Overview
Even though this build is considered off-meta, it remains fun to play and can be useful in Large Scale PvP. It deals high AOE damage through skills like Serial Fire Bombs and Judgment Lightning while Ice Spear is a capable CC skill.
Attributes
Invest into Strength and Dexterity as your main stats throughout the game to maximize your damage potential and increase heavy attack chance and overall damage Vital Force. Don't neglect Dexterity thought as it is your secondary focus to improve your overall damage. Perception isn't a bad choice either as it also increases your damage but Wisdom remains the least important attribute for this build.
Skills
The most important melee damaging skills in your arsenal are Death Blow and Guillotine Blade. Meanwhile, your important ranged staff skills are Serial Fire Bombs and Judgment Lightning alongside Chain Lightning. Level them to purple as soon as possible in order to boost your damage.
High Focus is a great utility skill that increases your movement & cooldown speed, allowing you to remain on the move while using your skills even more often.
For passives, you should focus on upgrading Robust Constitution & Mana Amp for additional health, health regen and max mana. Vital Force matches well with Robust Constitution and considerably increases your damage. Indomitable Armor is a great defensive passive while Echoic Barrier helps with resisting silences while Forbidden Sanctuary offers a flat skill damage increase.
Equipment
These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.
This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Staff: Invest 9 points into Destroy for a substantial damage boost and Cooldown speed. Then, spend the remaining 6 points into Mana for extra mana and Mana Cost Efficiency.
Greatsword: With your main damage coming from the Greatsword combos, you want to put 9 points into Face Off for extra damage and heavy attack chance. The 6 remaining points will go into Incapacitate to increase your stun chance.
Rotations
- This rotation serves as your primary kill rotation and it begins with Devastating Smash to jump onto and stun your target. Follow up with Ascending Slash to Prone your target and then use Gaia Crash to deal quick damage while they are on the ground. Continue with Stunning Blow and Death Blow before finishing them off with Guillotine Blade.
- Use this rotation to deal AOE damage and help with chipping away at the enemy zerg by picking up kills. Start with a fully charged Serial Fire Bombs before continuing with a channel of Judgment Lightning followed by an instant cast before using Chain Lightning to finish off the target.
Ice Spear: Use this skill to CC groups of enemies pulled by your tanks or groups that are caught out of position.
DaVinci's Courage: You should aim to use this as often as possible to heal yourself and your group while also increasing the defensive stats of yourself and your party.
High Focus: Use this on cooldown or before pushes in order to boost your movement speed and cooldown speed, letting you weave in and out while using your skills more often.
Useful Information
- Choose Lady Knight Kamarshea as your guardian; it offers vital defense with its shield, capable of absorbing damage up to 50% of your mana. This not only assists in reducing incoming damage but also accelerates your cooldown rate, enabling more frequent use of your abilities.
