Overview

Staff and Greatsword build for PvE revolves around delivering quick bursts of damage to mobs quickly and clearing them out with ease. However, this build doesn't lack in AoE damage either as Serial Fire BombsUsed frame.webpSerial Fire Bombs do a great deal of damage to stacked mobs, allowing you to clear out open world mob packs, especially while you are completing contracts. This build excels in the DPS role no matter the encounter though, capable of doing solid damage in all dungeons and even open world dungeons.

Dexterity Dexterity
SECONDARY
Perception Perception

Wisdom Wisdom
With the unique stats and attributes system in Throne and Liberty, it can be difficult to determine exactly where to invest your attribute points at each stage of the game. This is because gear pieces provide attributes just like leveling up does, meaning everyone will have a different number of attribute points depending on what gear they are wearing at the time.
Given this variation, it's best to reset your attributes regularly to adjust to the new gear you acquire. Aim to reach the achievement effects, which provide extra benefits at milestones like 30, 50, and 70 points.

In this build, prioritize allocating points into Strength and Dexterity to optimize your damage potential. Strength is crucial not only for increasing your heavy attack chance and skill damage, boosted by Vital ForceActive frame.webpVital Force, but also for enhancing your overall survivability through increased HP. Aim for 70 points in Strength as your gear improves, as the added health and heavy attack chance are invaluable in longer fights. Dexterity should be your secondary focus, as it boosts your critical hit rate and overall damage output. The remaining points should go into Perception to enhance your hit rate. Wisdom, on the other hand, isn't necessary for this build and can be avoided.

With the build making heavy use of Greatsword skills, you should prioritize them when upgrading. Skills like Death BlowUsed frame.webpDeath Blow and Gaia CrashUsed frame.webpGaia Crash or Guillotine BladeUsed frame.webpGuillotine Blade are your main DPS skills that offer incredible damage. The passives shouldn't be forgotten either as they provide an incredible boost to your damage, especially the combination between Robust ConstitutionActive frame.webpRobust Constitution and Vital ForceActive frame.webpVital Force as they compliment eachother perfectly, adding extra damage and health. Cold WarriorActive frame.webpCold Warrior offers increased critical hit along with Heavy Attack Chance which is vital to the build.

From the staff side of the build, the Forbidden SanctuaryActive frame.webpForbidden Sanctuary offers good extra skill damage which is very important for this build, especially with how expensive it is to get skill damage increases from the gear. Flame CondensationActive frame.webpFlame Condensation is another key passive as well, increasing your heavy attack rate when hitting burning enemies, making all your attacks much more dangerous.

While your staff abilities aren't as crucial to upgrade, both Judgment LightningUsed frame.webpJudgment Lightning and Serial Fire BombsUsed frame.webpSerial Fire Bombs deal good damage. Meanwhile, Icebound TombUsed frame.webpIcebound Tomb is a fantastic skill to help kite mobs and also increase the damage done through Gaia CrashUsed frame.webpGaia Crash.

These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.

This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.

This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of FuryTevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Rune Information Attack runeDefense runeSupport rune
While runes can be applied to different types of gear, you should make sure that you invest into the gear pieces that you plan on using for a long time. However, if the build you are using uses the same items between Mid Game and End Game, you can invest into adding runes to them as early as you get the items.

Staff: First 9 points should go straight into Destroy to reduce cooldowns and increase damage, key for this build. Then, place points into Attribute to improve burning damage, burn chance, and cooldown reduction. Finally, allocate the remaining 1 point into Mana for a small defensive boost.

Greatsword: Maximize your DPS by investing 9 points in Face Off to increase your damage and heavy attack rate. Use another 9 points in Incapacitate to boost your damage further, improve cooldown speed, and gain better stun duration. The last point is best placed in Charge for a small but helpful defensive advantage.
