Usage
General
- Every elixir skill (including toolbelt ones) can proc extra
Poison from .
- Using elixirs with a cast time in the middle of burst combos tends to be a DPS loss. Either build up some stacks beforehand or simply use your skills as intended without stressing over the procs, you'll still have good
Poison uptime without having to think about it too much. Think more about how you're going to consume the procs you end up with.

- Your elite skill can be used both defensively and offensively, as the CC's good in every situation.
Damage
- Spear has a central mechanic called focus. Focused targets are more heavily affected by your Spear skills.
- You make someone your focus target by hitting them with . Using this as your opener is therefore recommended.
- Skill #3
- Charging it up turns this skill into
Immobilize, making it great at setting up burst.
, a long range strike with
should be activated as soon as you use Conduit Surge. It's an instant skill that does damage passively around you and being charging up its chain skill.

- is primarily a setup skill too as it's a CC with not much else to it.
- is your primary burst skill on Spear. Try to land it on focused targets, preferably when they're CC'd so it doesn't miss.
- The toolbelt skill is your other big burst skill. Both this and Devastator are great at consuming Vass stacks too.
- Spam grenades when your Spear skill are on CC or if getting into melee would be too dangerous. Fill any downtime with grande spam, even if it's just the autoattack.
- Even your healing skill is a minor source of burst damage in melee range:
- procs another elixir via trait synergy, granting you a total of 6 procs. Using a healing skill also triggers a lesser around you from traits, which could immediately consume the Vass stacks you've just built.
- This is quite useful for counterpressuring targets, sometimes even turning the tides against the one chasing you. Be warned though that the grenade proc could also end up accidentally breaking your
Stealth when you heal next to an enemy, which could actually endanger you on low health.
Sustain
- Elixir skills remove conditions, providing a steady stream of cleansing in combat.
- Your healing skill cleanses multiple conditions because it also procs .
- If you're really pressured you could follow this up with . Being invulnerable makes it much easier to pick up the Med Packs, and the invuln also makes you stop taking condition damage while you grab the cleansing you need.
is the closest thing you've got to a mass cleanse, although it's not as simple as just pressing the button - you have to pick up the Med Packs by walking over them.
- is your time out button, use it to avoid burst damage if there's no other way out, or to extend your life at low HP. It also breaks stuns.

- Spear offers very little in terms of sustain, but at least is a mobility skill which you could use to quickly build some distance.

Ratings

Grenades, elixirs, turrets and a lightning spear. Flavorful and fun, skill intensive but rewarding. The hardest part is knowing what abilities to press and when since you have so many buttons, but all of the important boxes for a build are checked and there aren't any crippling weaknesses to note. Unique team utility in stealth and cleanse. Alright mobility, good defensives, great cleansing, a few non-projectile damage options and a huge range of conditions. Can burst pretty hard with Vass stacks or spear 5. Overall a solid build, probably one of the most "fair" meta builds we've had in a while.

This build has high burst damage with great kiting potential through Grenade Kit, plus some extra sustain from toolbelt skills. Conduit Surge gives solid mobility, making it great for capping nodes. Easy access to AoE regen, superspeed, and stealth. Swapping between Grenade Kit and spear bursts keeps up the pressure, while Elixir H’s melee damage adds some nice counterplay potential. Straightforward, effective, and fun to play.

Seems like the person that rated this a 1-star just doesn't know how to use this build. Movement is good: it has 2 dash skills, superspeed and 125% move speed. Decent sustain if you burst them then stealth and play around your supply crate/med drop. If the enemy team is focusing you then you have your 2 stun breaks/invulnerability potion, 2 spear dash skills to escape or spear skill 5 for counter pressure (1 sec evade), superspeed, stealth jukes, med pack drop (14 condi cleanse + heals), supply crate (stun + heals + water aura combo field), blind grenade, chill grenade, stun on spear 4, protection (-33% strike dmg), resolution (-33% condi dmg) which buys time for you to condi cleanse, and condi cleanses each time you use any elixir skill. For damage it inflicts 7 different condi types and gets a ton of might stacks so your strike damage hurts too.

Almost no mobility, very low sustain and utility and its main condition burning is eaisly clensed by most builds rendering it totally ineffective. Spear has no defense and is very clunky. The damage is strong but only on a target standing completely still and not using any defensive cooldowns. This has to be one of the worst Engi builds I've ever played, possibly the worst Metabattle build I have ever used in the past 8 years. I would rather have a Condi Mech on my team than someone running this and that's saying something as Condi Mech is generally considered the worst elite spec in PvP.
Even if it was good, the playstyle alone is very distasteful as it involves standing off point and hurling (spamming) the grenades while spear is on cooldown. Low skill cap, low skill requirement, and low performance. 0/10 #Pistols just do it better

Nice to see a core build performing so well, bit tragic to see the engi elite specs performing.. not so well. Love the burst, the sustain isn't that bad either, invuln and stealth can come in clutch.

Currently considered to be the best engi build, not super popular but sees a decent amount of play even at high ratings and tournaments. Great damage, bit mediocre sustain and mobility.
