Galeshot - Power Galeshot

This is a rough draft. Once adequately written, it will progress to the testing stage, where it can be rated by the community. You can help by proposing changes with a comment.

Focused on: Strike damage

Designed for: Open World and Open World General

Expansions required: Visions of Eternity builds

Difficulty:
TBD

This build was last updated on October 30, 2025.

Overview

Galeshot has good ranged damage and provides quickness to itself and nearby allies

This is a Visions of Eternity build. As such, EVERYTHING in this build is a work in progress and subject to change. All VoE elite specializations have received some changes since the open beta preview event back in August, so further testing is required to assess their open world potential and possible builds.

Skill Variants

Heal skill

We default to "We Heal As One!" for its good healing, low cooldown, and boon extension. If needed, it can be replaced by:

  • Soothing Breeze - slightly higher cooldown but it cleanses 2 conditions.

Utility skill

We default to:
Piercing Gales because it deals good damage
Whirlwind as a stunbreak and mobility skill. Can be replaced if you don't need this defensive option.
Mistral because it increases your projectile damage, and galeshots fires lots of projectiles.
If you want or need to run other skills, here are some suggestions:

  • Storm Spirit - extra AoE damage and cc.
  • Frost Trap - extra AoE damage.
  • "Protect Me!" - AoE stunbreak and personal barrier.

Elite skill

We default to Perfect Storm for its great damage and crowd control. On very rare occasions, it can be replaced by:

  • Spirit of Nature - sacrifices your damage for an AoE revive.

Pet variants

The suggested Cheetah Cheetah is a feline, a family of pets that deal good damage. Its beast skill, Savannah Strike helps with Swiftness Swiftness uptime, which is important for the trait Bird of Prey. The second pet, the Jacaranda Jacaranda has good AoE damage and is somewhat tanky.
Other options include:

High damage pets
Good mix of damage and crowd control
Good on-demand crowd control
Tanky pets
  • Drakes such as Marsh Drake Marsh Drake provide the best mix of damage and tankiness, but bears, porcines, and devourers are also very tanky pets.

Specializations

Variants
  • Sharpened Edges - minimal damage increase at the cost of Vigor Vigor generation.

Relic

If you are gearing this character from zero, start with exotic quality gear. Search the trading post for "Nika" armor. Then search for the weapons you want to use: "Serpentstone" mace, "Maw of the Damned"/"Shattered Axe"/"Serpent's Wrath Axe" axe, "Ebonblade" greatsword, "Impaler" spear, "Ironfist" hammer, or "Eir's Longbow" longbow. Upgrade to ascended gear as you progress. See also: Guide:How to Gear a Character.

  • This set provides 100% critical chance thaks to Vicious Quarry and Hunter's Tactics.
  • You can use Relic of Fireworks if you lack access to Claw. Other options include Relic of Zakiros to trade a minor amount of damage for sustain, Relic of the Cavalier to start combat with boons, or Relic of Durability for a little extra defense.
  • For defense, equip the highest tier Jade Core you can afford. Use defensive food or skills if required.

Consumables

Budget consumables are acceptable for use in open world.

Usage

Summon Cyclone Bow is the profession mechanic of the galeshot. It replaces your current weapon with a wind bow. The bow starts with 8 arrows which replenish over time. Casting bow skills 2 to 5 consumes arrows. Using Squall skills also replenishes arrows. After consuming 5 arrows, Hawkeye replaces skill 1.

Damage

  • Gain Quickness Quickness by using the Cyclone Bow with Summon Cyclone Bow, quickness is granted by Bluster and Hawkeye thanks to the trait Cloudburst.
  • Enter the bow, use Bluster, Pelt, Bluster, Supersonic Arrow and Hawkeye. If you replenish arrows with Squall skills, you may fire a second Hawkeye before dropping the bow. Your stacks of spent arrows are lost when you stow the bow.
  • Be careful with the cast time ofHawkeye, do not interrupt it.
  • Use Mistral before unleashing your projectile burst to deal higher damage.
  • Maintain Swiftness Swiftness or Superspeed Superspeed to activate Bird of Prey. You can easily gain switness from Lead the Wind and Tail Wind, which also activates when swapping to/from the Cyclone Bow, but mind the trait's 9 second cooldown.

Axe/Axe

  • Use all your axe skills for damage.
  • Use Splitblade in melee range to hit your target with all axes and deal more damage.
  • Whirling Defense deals massive damage but has a long casting time, but you should have permanent quickness from Cloudburst.

Longbow

  • Longbow works great for starting fights with Barrage and Rapid Fire, but has less sustained damage.
  • Point Blank Shot activates Lead the Wind for boons. However, do not use Point-Black Shot to push enemies away from your allies. This is not a concern against enemies with a defiance bar.

Defense

  • Always keep moving. Move out of dangerous attacks or dodge them.
  • Fleeting Zephyr evades during its cast.

Crowd Control

  • Supersonic Arrow
  • Path of Scars
  • Point Blank Shot
  • Perfect Storm
  • Winter's Bite soft cc.

Personally i dont like the Dual Axes - Theres no need to have a 3 skill condition based weapon and 2 skill non condition based. The Bow on the other hand why are we using 2 bows galeshot is your new bow. Dual Maces is the way to go - With Greatsword as your 2ndary. I dont like the Marksmanship as one of the specializations. Preferrably i use - Wilderness Survival + Skirmishing + Galeshot. Wilderness Surv - Mid / Mid / Top Skirmishing - Top / Mid / Bottom Galeshot - Bottom / Mid / Bottom Trade out whirlwind for Quickening Zephyr Greatsword - Sigil of Force / Sigil of battle. Mace / Mace - Sigil of Force / Sigil of Accuracy. Lastly for the relic for the added heal support i use - Relic of the Mist Stranger - Life Siphon
