Weapon Variants

If you don't have access to land spear with Janthir Wilds, use mace+axe instead.
Shortbow can be replaced with mace+axe for higher damage but in melee range.

  • Mace Mace + Axe Axe - replaces spear for players without Janthir Wilds, or replaces shortbow for players who want more damage at the cost of ranged damage.

Specializations

  • Cleansing Channel - if you need condition cleanse.
  • Permeating Pestilence - trades damage for massive condition removal.
  • Lasting Legacy - sacrifices Alacrity for more damage. More damage when solo, or in short fights.

Relic

If you are gearing this character from zero, start with exotic quality gear. For exotic Ritualist Ritualist weapons search the trading post for "Luxon Hunter's Weapon Cache" and updrade to ascended as you progress. Ritualist exotic armor is very expensive, you can start with the rare variant (search the trading post for "Ritualist's Ancient Canthan" armor) until you can get exotic gear such as by farming Bladed armor or you acquire ascended armor. See also: Guide:How to Gear a Character.

  • If you don't have access to land spear with Janthir Wilds, use mace+axe instead.
  • Shortbow can be replaced with mace+axe for higher damage but in melee range.
  • Players without Secrets of the Obscure will have to resort to Relic of the Nightmare.
  • If you are not using Righteous Revel because you want to play full DPS, use full Viper Viper gear instead.

Consumables

  • Prioritize Flatbread Ascended food.

Usage

Damage

Your damage is improved by Kalla's Fervor Kalla's Fervor, which you stack by gaining fury, striking a defiant enemy, striking an enemy's flank, or landing a critical hit. Use Orders From Above to provide yourself and nearby allies with permanent Alacrity Alacrity. Use Heroic Command to generate Might Might. Against large enemies, you can use Citadel Bombardment if you have spare energy.

Swap Legendary Stances off cooldown to regain energy, but first try to deplete your energy to activate Charged Mists.

Legendary Renegade Stance

When channelling Kalla in Legendary Renegade Stance, summon Icerazor's Ire followed by Razorclaw's Rage to deal damage. Always enhance Razorclaw's Rage by casting any other Legendary Renegade skill first.

Regarding the other skills, Breakrazor's Bastion is your heal skill, and Darkrazor's Daring is your stunbreak and crowd control skill. The elite skill Soulcleave's Summit provides some healing when you summon another warband member, but it costs too much energy and should be used sparingly if at all.

Legendary Demon Stance

When channelling Mallyx in Legendary Demon Stance, you want to activate Embrace the Darkness and leave it on to pulse torment to nearby enemies. Using any skill that consumes energy makes the next pulse of Embrace the Darkness inflict more torment. The other Legendary Demon Stance skills should not be used unless really needed, as it is better to spend energy on Embrace the Darkness and weapon skills.

Spear

The spear playstyle revolves around Abyssal Raze. Hitting targets with it empowers the next Abyssal Rage. Try to acquire 3 stacks of this buff before you weapon swap.

Spam Abyssal Force and Abyssal Blot for damage and to reduce the recharge of Abyssal Raze. Save Abyssal Blitz for whenever you need an extra dodge.

Shortbow

With shortbow you want to use all skills except Scorchrazor, which should be only be used if crowd control is needed.

Defense

  • Abyssal Blitz is an extra dodge.
  • If you need condition removal, consider using Cleansing Channel. If you need a lot of condition removal, consider using Replenishing Despair.

Crowd Control

  • Scorchrazor
  • Darkrazor's Daring
  • Abyssal Blot
