Untamed - Power DPS

The community gave this build a rating, making it top-tier: Great

Focused on: Direct damage

Designed for: Raids and Fractals

Expansions required: End of Dragons builds

Difficulty:
Hard

This build was last updated on July 28, 2026 and is up to date for the June 2, 2026 patch.

Overview

A power DPS build for Untamed. The playstyle is very similar to Soulbeast, but lacks the extreme burst power. In return, Untamed is more survivable as well as being less reliant on remaining at high health. Additionally, the strength of your pet provides a measure of consistent damage even if fight mechanics disrupt you.

The need to leash and unleash your pet for extra damage and to access ambushes means that the rotation requires speed and accuracy to perform well.

Variants

  • As you are buffing your current pet throughout the rotation, there isn't a reason to switch to a second pet for damage, so you can bring a utility pet for an emergency.
  • There are no elite skill options that offer worthwhile damage, so run whichever has the most utility.

Usage

Rotation

Start with Pet unleashed. Whenever the pet is unleashed you also want to be using your F1-3 skills off cooldown. If you put your pet's F1-3 skills on autocast, it can reduce the difficulty of this rotation, but it will be more efficient to trigger them yourself. Use the following skills depending on pet:

Unleashing, and your Unleashed pet's F1-3 skills, are all instant cast so can be used during other skills.

Sword/Axe Rotation

Opener

  1. Exploding Spores
  2. "Sic 'Em!"
  3. All pet F1-3 skills
  4. Unleash Ranger
  5. Unleashed Savage Shock Wave
  6. Unleashed Wild Swing
  7. Relentless Whirl
  8. Unleashed Overbearing Smash
  9. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Sword/Axe Loop

  1. Path of Scars
  2. Pounce
  3. Serpent's Strike
  4. Whirling Defense
  5. Slash (ranger sword) Crippling Thrust Precision Swipe x2
    • At some point during this section (the sooner the better) you want to do the following:
    1. Unleash Pet
    2. Use all F1-3 skills
    3. Unleash Ranger - try to time this such that it happens at the end of the second autoattack chain, so it isn't interrupted
  6. Pounce
  7. Deft Strike
  8. Serpent's Strike
  9. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Hammer Loop

  1. Unleashed Wild Swing - on the first loop this won't be off cooldown, so reverse the order of the first two skills
  2. Unleashed Savage Shock Wave
  3. Unleashed Overbearing Smash
  4. Unleash Pet
  5. Use all F1-3 skills
  6. Hammer Strike Hammer Slam Heavy Smash - Force
  7. Unleash Ranger
  8. Unleashed Thump
  9. Hammer Strike Hammer Slam Heavy Smash - Force
  10. Exploding Spores
  11. Unleashed Wild Swing
  12. Hammer Strike Hammer Slam Heavy Smash - Force
  13. Unleash Pet
  14. "Sic 'Em!"
  15. Use all F1-3 skills
  16. Hammer Strike Hammer Slam Heavy Smash - Force
  17. Unleash Ranger
  18. Relentless Whirl
  19. Unleashed Overbearing Smash
  20. Unleashed Wild Swing
  21. Unleashed Savage Shock Wave
  22. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  23. Repeat from start of Sword/Axe Loop
  • If you have downtime before the start of a phase, you can use "We Heal As One!" and "Strength of the Pack!" to start your pet off with boons.

Spear Rotation

Ranger's spear is unique because all of its 2-5 skills have their own stealth attacks. Panther's Prowl provides stealth, and as an ammo skill you can use it frequently to access these stealth attacks. This skill also has a unique effect that allows you to use these stealth attacks even if you get revealed, though using any stealth attack will remove this effect.

Throughout the rotation, Flame Trap and Frost Trap are used to maintain Relic of the Dragonhunter uptime.

Opener

  1. All pet F1-3 skills
  2. Flame Trap
  3. Unleash Ranger
  4. Poisonous Cloud (optional, if you start on Carrion Devourer) - can use during other skills. Swap pet after it finishes.
  5. Unleashed Thump
  6. Relentless Whirl
  7. Unleashed Savage Shock Wave
  8. Unleashed Wild Swing
  9. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Spear Loop

  1. Frost Trap
  2. Panther's Prowl
  3. Wolf's Onslaught
  4. Falcon's Stoop
  5. Drake's Swipe Wyvern's Lash Cheetah's Strike
  6. Stalk (Jaguar skill) - this provides normal stealth, so make sure not to reveal yourself before hitting Predator's Ambush
  7. Predator's Ambush
  8. Panther's Prowl
  9. Wolf's Onslaught
  10. Drake's Swipe Wyvern's Lash Cheetah's Strike
    • While going through the auto chain:
    1. Unleash Pet
    2. All available pet skills [F1-3]
    3. Unleash Ranger
  11. Flame Trap
  12. Ravager's Abandon
  13. Falcon's Stoop
  14. Panther's Prowl
  15. Wolf's Onslaught
  16. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Hammer Loop

  1. Unleashed Savage Shock Wave
  2. Unleashed Wild Swing
  3. Unleashed Overbearing Smash
  4. Hammer Strike Hammer Slam Heavy Smash - Force x3
  5. Unleashed Wild Swing
  6. Unleashed Thump
  7. Hammer Strike Hammer Slam Heavy Smash - Force
    • While going through the auto chain:
    1. Unleash Pet
    2. All available pet skills [F1-3]
    3. Unleash Ranger
  8. Flame Trap
  9. Relentless Whirl
  10. Unleashed Overbearing Smash
  11. Unleashed Savage Shock Wave
  12. Unleashed Wild Swing
  13. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  14. Repeat from start of Spear Loop

  • If the boss will phase before you need to use Stalk again, you can pet swap back to Carrion Devourer Carrion Devourer for another use of Poisonous Cloud.

CC

Untamed has pretty poor access to CC, and most of the options you have are used in your rotation:

  • Tail Lash (F1 on Carrion Devourer) - pet swap to use, and swap back to your other pet when you can.
  • Fang Grapple (F2 on Fanged Iboga, if using).
  • Predator's Ambush
  • Path of Scars - the positioning during the axe loop is flexible, so you can adjust to make it line up with defiance bars, or slightly delay the weapon swap in order to get a second use in.
  • Overbearing Smash and Thump (untamed) offer CC if used while the pet is unleashed, but accessing this requires rearranging your rotation and a loss of DPS.

Deals good damage with a similar rotation to Soulbeast, albeit more complicated and not as bursty. The real strength lies in the pet, which allows it to maintain a level of damage even if disrupted.

This build is so much easier to play than soulbeast (JMPO). My starting rotation does not match the one above and flows beautifully. Pet skills used while relentless whirl is running is much more efficient. I try to always pair those actions for a smoother more efficient flow.

Strong power DPS and easier to play as you would not need to time your utilities for certain burst. Also more survivability than PSB.

Solid and fun build, untamed isn't the greatest but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It's not as good as soulbeast, but to me it's easier and has more survivability. Plus I get to play with my pet and not suck it in like soulbeast.

Not sure how to rate this for actual Fractals or Raids but I'm enjoying it for Fractals at least. DPS is decent enough, though I use a Greatsword as my second weapon.
