Pet variants

You are always going to be merged with your pet for the massive bonuses from the Beastmastery traitline.

The suggested Smokescale Smokescale gives you a useful evade and CC, while Rock Gazelle Rock Gazelle has more CC, and a dash.

Weapon Variants

  • Mainhand Axe - Good for might and burst.
  • Sword - good damage overall and a dash.
  • Greatsword - Good burst and cleave.

Skill Variants

Heal skill

  • Bear Stance - extreme condi cleanse but no boon extension.

Utility skill

Don't replace "Sic 'Em!" nor Moa Stance as they are core to the build. Replace Frost Trap with whatever skill best fits the situation.

  • Vulture Stance - the only thing this build lacks is Might generation. Vulture Stance can help slightly with that.
  • Dolyak Stance - removes and prevents immob, chill, and cripple, and gives stability.
  • Frost Spirit - decent boost to squad DPS.
  • Signet of Stone - passive toughness + panic button.
  • Lightning Reflexes - stunbreak + evade.
  • Quickening Zephyr - stunbreak + quickness.

Elite skill

  • "Strength of the Pack!" - massively lower damage than One Wolf Pack, but 10 stacks of stability and might generation.

Specializations

  • Primal Reflexes - if you need more dodges.
  • Two-Handed Training - when using greatsword.
  • Leader of the Pack - boosts stance duration & shares stances with allies; always take this if playing with a group.

Marksmanship Variant

Marksmanship can replace Skirmishing for high burst damage, but quickly falls off. You will note that despite using a longbow this build does not use Lead the Wind, this is because we only use longbow to start the fight and quickly swap to our other set. Longbow has great burst but absolutely atrocious sustained damage.

Equipment

Berserker

This set uses gear similar to that of Build:Soulbeast_-_Power_DPS, making it excellent for general PvE.

Usage

Damage

  • You will always be merged in Beastmode with your pet to gain the massive bonuses from the Beastmastery traitline.
  • When fighting durable enemies, use "Sic 'Em!" for a 25% damage increase.
  • Whirling Defense deals massive damage but has a long casting time, try to use it while under the effects of quickness after casting Wordly Impact due to Live Fast.
  • Try to flank your enemy (attacking from behind or the sides) to benefit from Hunter's Tactics.
  • Try to use Crowd Control before unleashing your burst to benefit from Twice as Vicious.
  • Always use Moa Stance before fights to start with Fury Fury to benefit from Furious Strength. Remember that "We Heal As One!" extends the duration of your existing boons.

Rotation

  1. Barrage - be sure not to interrupt the long channelling time.
  2. One Wolf Pack + Moa Stance + "Sic 'Em!"
  3. Point Blank Shot - skip this if it would push the enemy away from nearby players.
  4. Rapid Fire while firing, walk into melee range if you aren't already
  5. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  6. Charge (soulbeast) - skip this if you're already in melee range
  7. Frost Trap
  8. Worldly Impact
  9. Path of Scars
  10. Whirling Defense
  • Your highest damage skills are Worldly Impact, Whirling Defense, Rapid Fire, and Barrage.
  • Smoke Assault (soulbeast) can be useful to fill gaps in the rotation.
  • You can use Instinctive Engage to extend the duration of your boons thanks to Essence of Speed.

Greatsword

If using greatsword instead of longbow, follow this rotation.

  1. Frost Trap
  2. One Wolf Pack + Moa Stance + "Sic 'Em!"
  3. Worldly Impact
  4. Path of Scars
  5. Whirling Defense
  6. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  7. Maul
  8. Hilt Bash
  9. Maul
  10. Auto-attack
  11. Maul
  12. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  13. Path of Scars
  14. Whirling Defense

Defense

  • Most of the defense with this build will come from dodging, as it has few blocks or other defensive cooldowns. Greatsword offers more thanks to Counterattack and Smoke Assault is a very useful evade.
  • When under preassure, use Leave Beastmode to unmerge with your pet so it may tank while you disengage.
  • When merged with a bear, you can use Unflinching Fortitude and Defy Pain to negate strike damage for up to 7 seconds.
  • When merged with a Jacaranda you can use Photosynthesize to heal and cleanse conditions, and Spiritual Reprieve to heal.

Crowd Control

  • Point Blank Shot
  • Takedown (soulbeast)
  • Hilt Bash if using Greatsword
  • Winter's Bite if using Axe
  • Counterattack if using Greatsword

Love this build. It's great for solo PVE play. The melee aspects tend to do a little more damage, but the bow is great when you need to kite a hard boss.

This build has been my friend for a while. And by a while I mean about 800 hours. Super fun. Against some of the tougher stuff it can get quite challenging. But my suggestion is to definitely slap on Jacaranda. Such a strong pet both in and out of Soulbeast mode.

A fantastic roaming build capable of completing basically any content in the game, from casual play to hard story bosses. It can struggle against especially challenging foes, like solo bounties, but that's also not the focus of the build.
