It is never recommended to replace {{Tooltip|Axe|Dual Axe}}, as this is by far your highest damage weapon set.

{{Tooltip|Axe|Dual Axe}} + {{Tooltip|spear}} is the default setup. Usage of {{Tooltip|spear}} requires Janthir Wilds. {{Tooltip|greatsword}} is a great alternative.
* {{Tooltip|Longbow}} - provides very large Ranged Area Damage, which is very useful for [https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tagging Tagging] in Farm Zergs.
+
* {{Tooltip|Greatsword}} - replaces spear for players without Jantir Wilds or players that prefer greatsword. Spear and greatsword are very simmilar in terms of damage so use whichever you like more.
* {{Tooltip|Hammer}} - very high innate CC but lower damage than {{Tooltip|Greatsword}}
+
* {{Tooltip|Rifle}} - low damage at range if ranged damage is needed. An option for players without access to spear, replaces greatsword.
* {{Tooltip|Mace|Mainhand Mace}} + {{Tooltip|Mace|Offhand Mace}} - low DPS but extremely high CC.

===Berserk===
 +
{{Skill|Berserk}} is the profession mechanic of the berserker. After filling your Adrenaline bar, for example by using {{Skill|Head Butt}}, activate the skill to enter Berserk. In Berserk mode, you deal additional damage thanks to {{Trait|Fatal Frenzy}} and {{Trait|Bloody Roar}}, and have increased critical chance due to {{Trait|Smash Brawler}}. Your maximum Adrenaline is reduced, so it's easier to gain full Adrenaline to use the improved Primal Burst skills {{Skill|Decapitate}} and {{Skill|Wild Throw}} which are your sources of {{Tooltip|Quickness}} from {{Trait|Heat the Soul}}.
 +
 +
For these reasons, maintaining Berserk mode is key to playing berserker correctly. {{Skill|Blood Reckoning}}, {{Skill|Outrage}} and {{Skill|Head Butt}} extend the duration of your current Berserk mode. Using a Primal Burst also extends the Berserk duration due to {{Trait|Smash Brawler}}. Thanks to this, you can maintain permanent Berserk mode during fights.

This build is very simple to play. Start fights by instantly filling your Adrenaline bar with {{Skill|Head Butt}}, activate {{Skill|Berserk}}, and pummel your enemies. Note that having 60% critical chance before {{Tooltip|Fury}} and before {{Trait|Smash Brawler}} is absolutely mandatory.
* This build operates with a basic skill priority, but requires some finesse due to its Adrenaline mechanic.
+

* Use {{Skill|Head Butt}} to start fights. Immediately follow it with {{Skill|Outrage}} to break the self-stun.
+
#{{Skill|Berserk}}
* A note about {{Tooltip|Fury}}: Fury is a significant portion of your damage and you only generate it from {{Skill|"For Great Justice!"}} and {{Skill|Arcing Slice}}. Since {{Skill|Arcing Slice}} is not typically part of the rotation, it can sometimes be worth using it at level 3 outside of Berserker mode in order to generate 16 seconds of {{Tooltip|Fury}}. This should usually be done right before using {{Skill|Head Butt}}, but requires some setup to do.

In short, spam your Primal Bursts. Use {{Skill|Blood Reckoning}} to cast {{Skill|Wild Throw}} twice back to back, then a third time when it recharges, and swap back to axe.
 +
* Your goal is to stay on {{Tooltip|axe}} and spam {{Skill|Eviscerate}} while using as little other skills in between as possible. Since {{Trait|Axe Mastery}} gives extra Adrenaline, including to {{Skill|Eviscerate}}, you only need to strike 3 times in between each {{Skill|Eviscerate}}. Be mindful that {{Skill|Cyclone Axe}} strikes twice, as does your second basic attack {{Skill|Double Chop}}. This means that, even if all your other skills are on cooldown, you are never going to cast your third auto attack {{Skill|Triple Chop}} because the first two auto attacks will have already filled your Adrenaline bar to use {{Skill|Eviscerate}}.
 +
* After using your {{Tooltip|Axe}} skills, prepare your Adrenaline and swap to {{Tooltip|spear}} to cast {{Skill|Wild Throw}} + {{Skill|Blood Reckoning}} + {{Skill|Wild Throw}}, all skills except {{Skill|Spear Swipe}} unless needed, use {{Skill|Wild Throw}} a third final time, and swap back to axe. Repeat when {{Skill|Blood Reckoning}} comes off cooldown.
 +
** If using {{Tooltip|greatsword}}, the same thing applies. Use your burst {{Skill|Arc Divider}} three times.
 +
* Use {{Skill|Head Butt}} + {{Skill|Outrage}} when your weapon skills are on cooldown to help maintain Berserk.
 +
* Use {{Skill|"For Great Justice!"}} before starting fights, and periodically throughout them.

The basic {{Tooltip|Greatsword}} priority is as follows:
+
===Boon generation===
# {{Skill|Head Butt}} {{to}} {{Skill|Outrage}} to open fights, and throughout the fight to maintain {{Skill|Berserk}}
+
By spamming your Primal Bursts as detailed above, you will provide yourself and nearby allies with permanent {{Tooltip|Quickness}} and {{Tooltip|Fury}} and some {{Tooltip|Might}} due to {{Trait|Heat the Soul}}.
# {{Skill|Arc Divider}} - use this off cooldown.

# {{Skill|Blood Reckoning}} at 0 adrenaline to instantly refresh {{Skill|Arc Divider}}

# {{Skill|Hundred Blades}}

# {{Skill|Whirlwind Attack}}

# {{Skill|Bladetrail}}

# Fill with auto-attacks.

For {{Tooltip|Axe|Axes}}, the priority is similar:
+
You also provide yourself lots of short duration {{Tooltip|Might}} thanks to {{Trait|Forceful Greatsword}}, and some more with {{Skill|"For Great Justice!"}}.
# {{Skill|Head Butt}} {{to}} {{Skill|Outrage}} to open fights, and throughout the fight to maintain {{Skill|Berserk}}

# {{Skill|Decapitate}} off cooldown

# {{Skill|Whirling Axe}}

# {{Skill|Cyclone Axe}}

# {{Skill|Dual Strike}}

# {{Skill|Throw Axe}}

# Fill with auto-attacks.

Overview

Power Berserker Berserker is a high damage and reliable build for open world that also provides boons. You'll spend most of the time in Berserk mode, dealing increased damage and killing enemies by spamming the Primal Burst skills Decapitate and Wild Throw which will also provide permanent Quickness Quickness, Fury Fury and some Might Might to yourself and nearby allies. Berserker is also very relentless, having 2 stunbreak skills that also help with damage, and a heal skill that makes you nigh-immortal for a few seconds.

The main downside of this build, as with most warrior builds, is the lack of ranged damage.

Usage

Berserk

Berserk is the profession mechanic of the berserker. After filling your Adrenaline bar, for example by using Head Butt, activate the skill to enter Berserk. In Berserk mode, you deal additional damage thanks to Fatal Frenzy and Bloody Roar, and have increased critical chance due to Smash Brawler. Your maximum Adrenaline is reduced, so it's easier to gain full Adrenaline to use the improved Primal Burst skills Decapitate and Wild Throw which are your sources of Quickness Quickness from Heat the Soul.

For these reasons, maintaining Berserk mode is key to playing berserker correctly. Blood Reckoning, Outrage and Head Butt extend the duration of your current Berserk mode. Using a Primal Burst also extends the Berserk duration due to Smash Brawler. Thanks to this, you can maintain permanent Berserk mode during fights.

Damage

This build is very simple to play. Start fights by instantly filling your Adrenaline bar with Head Butt, activate Berserk, and pummel your enemies. Note that having 60% critical chance before Fury Fury and before Smash Brawler is absolutely mandatory.

Priority
  1. Berserk
  2. Eviscerate
  3. Wild Throw + Blood Reckoning + Wild Throw
  4. Head Butt + Outrage
  5. Weapon skills

In short, spam your Primal Bursts. Use Blood Reckoning to cast Wild Throw twice back to back, then a third time when it recharges, and swap back to axe.

  • Your goal is to stay on axe axe and spam Eviscerate while using as little other skills in between as possible. Since Axe Mastery gives extra Adrenaline, including to Eviscerate, you only need to strike 3 times in between each Eviscerate. Be mindful that Cyclone Axe strikes twice, as does your second basic attack Double Chop. This means that, even if all your other skills are on cooldown, you are never going to cast your third auto attack Triple Chop because the first two auto attacks will have already filled your Adrenaline bar to use Eviscerate.
  • After using your Axe Axe skills, prepare your Adrenaline and swap to spear spear to cast Wild Throw + Blood Reckoning + Wild Throw, all skills except Spear Swipe unless needed, use Wild Throw a third final time, and swap back to axe. Repeat when Blood Reckoning comes off cooldown.
    • If using greatsword greatsword, the same thing applies. Use your burst Arc Divider three times.
  • Use Head Butt + Outrage when your weapon skills are on cooldown to help maintain Berserk.
  • Use "For Great Justice!" before starting fights, and periodically throughout them.

Boon generation

By spamming your Primal Bursts as detailed above, you will provide yourself and nearby allies with permanent Quickness Quickness and Fury Fury and some Might Might due to Heat the Soul.

You also provide yourself lots of short duration Might Might thanks to Forceful Greatsword, and some more with "For Great Justice!".

Defense

  • Whirlwind Attack can be used to evade attacks and reposition.
  • Blood Reckoning heals you based on damage dealt, continue to deal damage.
  • Head Butt and Outrage are stunbreaks.

Crowd Control

  • Head Butt
  • Wild Blow
  • Disrupting Throw

Great damage, great boon generation, some mobility, amazing heal skill, low cooldown stun breaks. Power berserker is a really good build for open world. The only disadvantage is the lack of ranged damage, but that's a small downside when everything in melee range of you dies so fast
