Overview

The Staff and Spear PvE build focuses on delivering fast bursts of damage to quickly eliminate mobs. Despite its speed, it also excels at AoE damage with abilities like Serial Fire BombsUsed frame.webpSerial Fire Bombs, which deal significant damage to groups of enemies. For a more hands-on approach, moving in close to use Cyclonic FuryUsed frame.webpCyclonic Fury and Javelin SurgeUsed frame.webpJavelin Surge provides a highly satisfying and effective way to clear enemies.

This build is ideal for efficiently clearing open-world mob packs, making it perfect for completing contracts. It shines in the DPS role in any situation, delivering strong damage in dungeons, open-world encounters, and Dimensional Trials.

Attributes

PRIMARY
Dexterity Dexterity
+
Strength Strength
SECONDARY
Wisdom Wisdom
+
Perception Perception
With the unique stats and attributes system in Throne and Liberty, it can be difficult to determine exactly where to invest your attribute points at each stage of the game. This is because gear pieces provide attributes just like leveling up does, meaning everyone will have a different number of attribute points depending on what gear they are wearing at the time.
Given this variation, it's best to reset your attributes regularly to adjust to the new gear you acquire. Aim to reach the achievement effects, which provide extra benefits at milestones like 30, 50, and 70 points.

Strength and Dexterity should be your main focus to do the most damage. Start with them early and keep adding points as you upgrade your gear. This will boost crits, heavy attacks, and give you some extra HP. Aim for 50 Strength and a lot of Dexterity. Perception and Wisdom are less important but still helpful.

With the build making heavy use of Spear skills, you should prioritize them when upgrading. Skills like Vicious FuryUsed frame.webpVicious Fury and Javelin SurgeUsed frame.webpJavelin Surge or Cyclonic FuryUsed frame.webpCyclonic Fury are your main DPS skills that offer incredible damage. Rising SlashUsed frame.webpRising Slash is a perfect skill for finishing off targets and exploiting the Ignite debuffs.

From the Staff side of the build, your main damaging skill is Judgment LightningUsed frame.webpJudgment Lightning and should be the first skill you upgrade alongside Serial Fire BombsUsed frame.webpSerial Fire Bombs being a close second. Don't forget Chain LightningUsed frame.webpChain Lightning either though as it has a low cooldown and does good damage.

The passives shouldn't be forgotten either as they provide an incredible boost to your damage, especially the combination of Retaliatory StrikeActive frame.webpRetaliatory Strike and Malice SurgeActive frame.webpMalice Surge while Mortal WrathActive frame.webpMortal Wrath is perfect to add extra damage whenever you hit a low HP target.

From the staff side of the build, the Forbidden SanctuaryActive frame.webpForbidden Sanctuary offers good extra skill damage which is very important for this build, especially with how expensive it is to get skill damage increases from the gear. Flame CondensationActive frame.webpFlame Condensation is another key passive as well, increasing your heavy attack rate when hitting burning enemies, making all your attacks much more dangerous. AsceticismActive frame.webpAsceticism is another important skill, not only for your mana regen but also for the extra heavy attack chance if you don't move. Another important passive is the Mana AmpActive frame.webpMana Amp as it helps with the mana issues you might run into with this build.

Continuing with Staff Active skills, Judgment LightningUsed frame.webpJudgment Lightning and Serial Fire BombsUsed frame.webpSerial Fire Bombs deal good damage and also boost the damage done by Chain LightningUsed frame.webpChain Lightning.

These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.

This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.

This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of FuryTevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Rune Information Attack runeDefense runeSupport rune
While runes can be applied to different types of gear, you should make sure that you invest into the gear pieces that you plan on using for a long time. However, if the build you are using uses the same items between Mid Game and End Game, you can invest into adding runes to them as early as you get the items.

Staff: To maximize your damage output, invest 9 points into Destroy and Attribute to boost overall damage while the remaining 1 point can go into Mana for a bit of extra defense.

Spear: The 9 points should go into Face Off while 9 more go into Destroy for similar effects and another chance of increasing overall damage of the build. The remaining 1 point goes into Charge!

  • Use this rotation to kill mobs with low max HP or simply as the rotation you do before your main Melee Rotation. Prebuff with High FocusUsed frame.webpHigh Focus and Unyielding SentinelUsed frame.webpUnyielding Sentinel to lower overall cooldowns and boost heavy attack chance before you transition to actual damaging skills.
  • Begin with Serial Fire BombsUsed frame.webpSerial Fire Bombs, fully charged up in order to maximize the burn stacks you land on the target. Follow up by using Judgment LightningUsed frame.webpJudgment Lightning (two times if it procs) before using Chain LightningUsed frame.webpChain Lightning to maximize damage done based on burn stacks. Finish off the rotation using Vicious FuryUsed frame.webpVicious Fury to stack up the Ember buff before using Javelin SurgeUsed frame.webpJavelin Surge to spend the Ember buffs. Once this rotation is complete, you can transition into the melee spear rotation.

Culling ArcUsed frame.webp

Rising SlashUsed frame.webp
  • This rotation serves as your primary melee rotation. It is great to use it after the Ranged Rotation but you can also use it on its own to blow up mobs with low max HP.
  • The rotation is rather simple with Abyssal CleaveUsed frame.webpAbyssal Cleave to stun or shock the target before using Cyclonic FuryUsed frame.webpCyclonic Fury (close range so all hits connect) then use Culling ArcUsed frame.webpCulling Arc to deal damage and exploit the large amount of stacks you just applied. Use Rising SlashUsed frame.webpRising Slash next to further use up Ignite stacks from the enemy, increasing damage further.

AsceticismActive frame.webpAsceticism: This passive helps a great deal with improving heavy attack chance and mana regen. However, keep in mind that you should remain standing in the same place to maximize its benefit. That for, you should play this build in melee range where you can use the whole kit without having to move too much.

Useful Information

  • You can also choose Lady Knight Kamarshea as your alternative guardian; it provides essential protection with its shield, capable of absorbing damage equal to 50% of your mana. This not only aids in mitigating damage but also increases your cooldown speed in order to let you heal more often.
