Variant Equipment

Gear

  • Trailblazer Trailblazer - trades 10-15% DPS for a massive increase to EHP; this is a luxury set and not useful for content other than solo play
  • Celestial Celestial - trades 15-20% DPS for an increase to EHP, boon duration, and barrier output; this is a luxury set and not useful for most content outside of open world

Runes

  • Rune of Superior Rune of the Trapper - use 5 of these + 1 black diamond to very closely mimic Rune of Superior Rune of the Nightmare
  • Rune of Superior Rune of the Lich - easy/budget DPS
  • Rune of Superior Rune of Tormenting - these runes lose less than 2% DPS off any given variant but provide unparalleled sustain.
  • Rune of Superior Rune of the Renegade - cheap alternatives that increase the power of Epidemic due to the higher condition damage

  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Energy - defense

Food
  • Any ascended food is superior to any other food you could use. Steak for power, flatbread for conditions. Budget versions of these foods exist and are acceptable.

Usage

Damage

This build is extremely easy to deal damage with and follows a very simple list of rules for its rotation:

  • The single most important thing for DPS is never interrupting AA chains without delaying skills.
  • Ensure you always maintain 3 shades for the concentration from Sand Sage
  • Use Desert Shroud as often as possible
  • Use Grasping Dead and Devouring Darkness off cooldown; try to use them together as they have the same cooldown.
  • Every other Devouring Darkness, also use Oppressive Collapse
  • Use Harrowing Wave any time it's off CD and your life force isn't full
  • Use Blood Is Power off cooldown; try to time it with Deathly Swarm or Desert Shroud.

A simple opener is as follows:

  1. Blood Is Power
  2. Plaguelands
  3. Blood Is Power
  4. Desert Shroud
  5. Oppressive Collapse + Grasping Dead + Devouring Darkness
  6. Harrowing Wave

From there, just rotate skills off cooldown and try to line up your Blood Is Power and Plaguelands with either Desert Shroud or Deathly Swarm. Be sure to use your Shade Skills as often as possible to proc Dhuumfire.


Sustain

  • Nefarious Favor, Deathly Swarm, and Desert Shroud can be used to cleanse conditions.
  • If you have trouble surviving, you can trait Parasitic Contagion.
  • If you go down just use Life Leech to get back up.

Very, very strong currently (SotO release patch). For OW, I particularly enjoy going full Viper's, Parasitic Contagion and 2-3 minions. The DPS loss, while visible, isn't too bad, but the survivability is real good. You'll still instantly obliterate packs in the blink of an eye. Then you can fine tune defensive options for rougher champs. The barriers from the spec work real well with pets since they, by nature, hug your target, which is your shade. Of course, all subject to change when it gets nerfed :)

Stronger than ever. The ability to wield a pistol thanks to Secrets of the Obscure provides even more damage. Together with its really good survivability, condi scourge is one of the best classes in the game right now.

The 7/18 update patch fixed the mistakes of the 6/27 patch and now scourge is in a better state than it has ever been in. This is probably one of the strongest condition options in the game right now.
