This build was last updated on January 19, 2022 and is up to date for the October 8, 2024 patch.

Overview

Variant of Build:Chronomancer_-_Power_Boon_Support. This build fills the same role of Quickness Quickness and Alacrity Alacrity but deals Torment Torment and Confusion Confusion instead of power damage, which makes it perform better on bosses like Soulless Horror and Largos. In addition, this build can deal damage from range (useful for kiting agony on Cairn or doing ranged strat on Deimos) and its conditions increase the damage of teammates via traits like Exposed Weakness and Modified Ammunition.

Utility

Weapon Variants

  • Torch will deal very similar damage, depending on which traitlines you run.
  • Focus for pulls at a dps loss.

Skill Variants

Healing

  • Signet of the Ether can be changed to Well of Eternity for group healing.

Utility

  • Well of Action Could be taken instead of Mimic if Quickness Quickness uptime is suffering (this may cause Alacrity Alacrity uptime to suffer instead).
  • Null Field or Feedback could be taken if you are using Focus - if the whirl finishers from Phantasmal Warden combo with the ethereal field they will generate extra Confusion Confusion.
  • If you are not required to provide Alacrity Alacrity, then Well of Recall can be replaced by Signet of Midnight for more damage or Signet of Domination for damage and CC.

Elite

  • Signet of Humility should be used if an encounter involves large, infrequent breakbars.
  • Gravity Well can be used if an encounter has many small breakbars.
  • Time Warp can be used when the CC from Gravity Well/Signet of Humility is not required.

Specializations

Specialization Variants

  • Take The Pledge if you are using a Torch.
  • Running Inspiration instead of Dueling will give you access to Inspiring Distortion and 10-target Signet of Inspiration through Blurred Inscriptions, at a significant DPS loss.
  • You should use a Torch with The Pledge in this case as you won't have Duelist's Discipline.
  • Chaos can be taken instead of Dueling as a quick-fix if you need more survivability or boon duration.
  • You should use a Torch with The Pledge in this case as you won't have Duelist's Discipline.
  • Consider Chaotic Interruption on Soulless Horror if you're afraid of Stability Stability getting corrupted into Fear Fear.

Equipment Variants

  • Condi Boon Chronomancer is most effective on encounters where you are likely to be tanking (Soulless Horror and Twin Largos). For this reason Trailblazer is the default gear, but if you do not need to tank or simply want more damage, then the Trailblazer pieces may be swapped for Viper pieces.
  • The setup above has ~35% boon duration. In practise you want somewhere between 30-50%, so feel free to add or remove Seraph pieces to guarantee boon uptime.
  • Plaguedoctor pieces instead of Seraph will allow you maintain some tankiness, at the cost of a small amount of damage and boon duration.

Usage

Example Opener

  1. Scepter auto chain to generate a clone (You don't need a target to cycle through the chain, so you can start the chain before engaging the boss)
  2. Mimic
  3. Well of Recall
  4. Echo of Memory
  5. Illusionary CounterCounterspell
  6. Well of Recall
  7. Continuum Split during the cast of Well of Recall
  8. Time Warp
  9. Signet of Inspiration
  10. Tides of Time
  11. Continuum Shift
  12. Tides of Time
  13. Signet of Inspiration
  14. Well of Recall
  • If you're quick, then you won't need three clones for Continuum Split, and can skip step 1.
  • With a three-clone Continuum Split, you can throw in extra DPS skills for more damage.
  • After this opener, wait until Tides of Time is off cooldown and use it once more, then weapon swap.
  • On pistol, use Phantasmal Duelist twice (three times if you took Signet of the Ether) before swapping back to shield.
  • Use Tides of Time as soon as it is available, then swap back to pistol.
  • Use boon skills as they come off cooldown, and make sure to Mimic every other Well of Recall.
  • Done correctly, your boon skills should come off cooldown just in time for your next Continuum Split.
For damage, do the following:
  • Use Confusing Images off cooldown.
  • Shatter Rewinder every 3 clones.
  • Use Illusionary Counter to regain clones - block an attack if you can, but don't delay the skill too much.
See Build:Chronomancer - Utility Boon Support for general Chrono tips and boon support rotation.

Breakbar

  • Tides of Time
  • Time Sink
  • Magic Bullet
  • Gravity Well or Signet of Humility

There aren't many encounters where this does competitive damage, but it's nice that it can provide a broader range of boons than the power version, with all the usual mesmer utility.

Meta variant of Chronomancer on Cairn, Matthias, Soulless Horror, and Largos, as well as ranged Deimos
