This build is up to date for the March 14, 2025 patch.
Overview
Staff and Greatsword build for PvE revolves around delivering quick bursts of damage to mobs quickly and clearing them out with ease. However, this build doesn't lack in AoE damage either as
Serial Fire Bombs do a great deal of damage to stacked mobs, allowing you to clear out open world mob packs, especially while you are completing contracts. This build excels in the DPS role no matter the encounter though, capable of doing solid damage in all dungeons and even open world dungeons.
Attributes
PRIMARY

Strength
+

Dexterity
SECONDARY

Perception
+

Wisdom
With the unique stats and attributes system in Throne and Liberty, it can be difficult to determine exactly where to invest your attribute points at each stage of the game. This is because gear pieces provide attributes just like leveling up does, meaning everyone will have a different number of attribute points depending on what gear they are wearing at the time.
Given this variation, it's best to reset your attributes regularly to adjust to the new gear you acquire. Aim to reach the achievement effects, which provide extra benefits at milestones like 30, 50, and 70 points.
In this build, prioritize allocating points into Strength and Dexterity to optimize your damage potential. Strength is crucial not only for increasing your heavy attack chance and skill damage, boosted by
Vital Force, but also for enhancing your overall survivability through increased HP. Aim for 70 points in Strength as your gear improves, as the added health and heavy attack chance are invaluable in longer fights. Dexterity should be your secondary focus, as it boosts your critical hit rate and overall damage output. The remaining points should go into Perception to enhance your hit rate. Wisdom, on the other hand, isn't necessary for this build and can be avoided.
Skills
Depending on which Dungeon/Dimensional Trial you might run, consider using
Rare Roaring Steak,
Rare Thrilling Papillote, and even
Rare Scorpion Tail Fritters to make it easier and also deal a lot more damage.
With the build making heavy use of Greatsword skills, you should prioritize them when upgrading. Skills like
Death Blow and
Gaia Crash or
Guillotine Blade are your main DPS skills that offer incredible damage. The passives shouldn't be forgotten either as they provide an incredible boost to your damage, especially the combination between
Robust Constitution and
Vital Force as they compliment eachother perfectly, adding extra damage and health.
Cold Warrior offers increased critical hit along with Heavy Attack Chance which is vital to the build.
From the staff side of the build, the
Forbidden Sanctuary offers good extra skill damage which is very important for this build, especially with how expensive it is to get skill damage increases from the gear.
Flame Condensation is another key passive as well, increasing your heavy attack rate when hitting burning enemies, making all your attacks much more dangerous.
While your staff abilities aren't as crucial to upgrade, both
Judgment Lightning and
Serial Fire Bombs deal good damage. Meanwhile,
Icebound Tomb is a fantastic skill to help kite mobs and also increase the damage done through
Gaia Crash.

These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.

This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.

While runes can be applied to different types of gear, you should make sure that you invest into the gear pieces that you plan on using for a long time. However, if the build you are using uses the same items between Mid Game and End Game, you can invest into adding runes to them as early as you get the items.
This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like
Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Rotations
- Use this rotation to kill mobs with low max HP or simply as the rotation you do before your main Melee Rotation. Begin with

Serial Fire Bombs, fully charged up in order to maximize the burn stacks you land on the target. Follow up with
Inferno Wave for some extra damage and burn stacks before finishing off the rotation using
Judgment Lightning (two times if it procs).
- This rotation serves as your primary melee rotation. You It is best if you start this rotation after you've already used

Serial Fire Bombs.
- The rotation is straightforward: begin with

Precision Dash used two times to bind your target and boost your heavy attack chance. If your bind succeeds, use
Ascending Slash to trip (Prone) your target (keep in mind that you cannot prone bosses).
Use
Icebound Tomb to lock them in place and increase the damage done by your
Gaia Crash. Continue with
Stunning Blow and
Death Blow before finishing them off with
Guillotine Blade.

Icebound Tomb: This is the perfect skill for kiting high HP mobs, with a low cooldown and a great bind, it can be used both offensively and defensively while it pairs perfectly with
Gaia Crash.

DaVinci's Courage: Use this skill as often as possible to boost your max health and improve your overall damage thanks to your passives while also helping your party!
Useful Information
- Lady Knight Kamarshea as your alternative guardian; it provides essential protection with its shield, capable of absorbing damage equal to 50% of your mana. This not only aids in mitigating damage but also increases your cooldown speed in order to let you heal more often.
