Overview

Power Mechanist is a simple build that is playable in open world. While it does substantially less damage than Power Scrapper, Power Holo, or Condition Mechanist, the build is quite simple to play, perhaps even boring, and relatively safe thanks to the Mech tanking most mobs for you.

Skill Variants

The suggested skills are optimized for dps, but feel free to use other utilities such as:

  • Bomb Kit - AoE damage in melee and some utility.
  • Elixir U - quickness quickness, combine with Mech Core: Jade Dynamo and Sigil of Superior Sigil of Rage for good quickness uptime.
  • Barrier Signet - for a full signet build.
  • Rocket Boots - mobility.

Specializations

  • Mech Core: Jade Dynamo - personal quickness, great pick when you're comfortable pressing all your buttons. Whereas J-Drive works best with a simpler playstyle.
  • Glass Cannon - DPS increase for group bosses if other players are providing fury.

Ascended gear is not required.

Relic
  • Rune of Superior Rune of the Dragonhunter and Rune of Superior Rune of the Scholar are interchangeable.
  • Other relics include Relic of the Adventurer, Relic of Cerus, Relic of the Cavalier, and Relic of Durability.
  • For defense, equip the highest tier Jade Core you can afford. Use defensive food, traits, or skills if required. If necessary, use Knight Knight trinkets.

Consumables

Budget consumables are acceptable for use in open world.

DPS

  • Prioritize Steak Ascended food.
  • /
  • /

Defense

Farming

  • Prioritize Steak Ascended food.
  • /
  • (and variants)

Usage

  • Spam Blunderbuss and Jump Shot off cooldown. The auto attack, Rifle Burst, is also great and fires Rifle Burst Grenade which is an Explosion.
  • Spam your Mech skills off cooldown. Remember that using your third weapon skill causes the Mech to fire Rocket Punch (Mechanist), this doesn't interrupt any action the Mech is doing.
  • You can put the Mech's F1 ability on auto-cast if you want by pressing control+mouse 2 on the skill. Don't use autocast on F2 and F3 because these skills inflict crowd control, and you want to be able to decide when and when not to inflict crowd control.

Crowd control

  • Overcharged Shot
  • Net Shot Rocket Punch (Mechanist)
  • Core Reactor Shot
  • Sky Circus
  • Force Signet

Stupidly easy to play, great damage, great crowd control, super tanky pet. All in all a great build.

Hammer is the perfect weapon for this build. Tons of cc, ridiculous burst, and a significant amount of defense are available with just a few key presses. With mech skills on full auto, just drop hammer 5, then inside the electric field do some or all of Throw Mine, hammer 2, and hammer 3, then add a couple of auto attacks if needed and anything less than the hardest hero points will be dead, usually without you taking damage due to the built in defense, heavy cc, and mech tanking. Kills most open world stuff faster and with less effort than anything else I've tried. Biggest downside is that, due to long weapon skill cooldowns and lack of an engineer kit to swap into, for anything that survives your burst you'll spend a lot of time with nothing to do except dodge and auto attack. Also it's a melee build, which isn't great for those who strongly prefer ranged attacks.

With Weaponmaster, Mechanist has gained a significant boost in its power and overall feeling for general open world play. PMech has gone from a build I'd never recommend to one I think is fantastic for people that are new to engineer or just want a laid back, easy farming build to play.
