Focused on: Boon support and Strike damage

Designed for: Fractals

Difficulty:
TBD

Overview

This build provides 100% Quickness Quickness uptime on a closely stacked group while having strong personal DPS and burst. It pairs well with a Renegade - Boon Support Power DPS (Fractal) providing alacrity. Note that unless your group is consistently phasing bosses in under ~15 seconds then Firebrand - Quickness Support Condi DPS will perform better.

28/06/2022 Patch - Archived as the removal of Perfect Inscriptions removes any reason for this build to exist.

Weapon Variants

  • Axe can be brought for the extra pull.
  • Scepter can be used if a ranged option is necessary. Note that Fury Fury uptime will suffer without Sword or Axe.

Skill Variants

  • "Stand Your Ground!" over Sword of Justice for group stability if the renegade is unable to provide any.

Equipment Variants

The above gear assumes you have 162 Agony Resistance. If you have a different amount you will need to adjust your gear accordingly (the more AR you have, the fewer diviner and assassin pieces you need). Aim for ~42% boon duration and 2365 precision (assuming you will not have Spotter or Banner of Discipline). As you gain more AR, you can start swapping some Assassin stats Assassin stats pieces to Berserker stats Berserker stats.

If you're struggling to maintain adequate quickness, you can run additional diviners gear at a very minor personal DPS loss. If you primarily play with disorganized groups it may be worth investing in as much Diviner gear to ensure good quickness uptime.

Eagle Rune Variant

At 162 AR, Rune of Superior Rune of the Scholar and Rune of Superior Rune of the Eagle deal practically the same damage, so this may be a good option if you are struggling to stay above 90% health. This version also allows you to reuse some gear pieces from a DPS Dragonhunter. As you gain additional AR however, it will start to fall behind Rune of Superior Rune of the Scholar.

Usage

Mantra of Potence, Mantra of Solace, and "Feel My Wrath!" are used to maintain quickness on your group. "Feel My Wrath!" can be cast as soon as it is available, while you should cast your mantra charges every 10 seconds, being careful not to use the last charge of your mantras unless the fight is nearly over (or you desperately need to heal yourself/a party member with your heal).

Use Bane Signet on every defiance bar you can - the buff from Perfect Inscriptions will last the majority of the phase, and if it doesn't, you should be playing condi quickbrand instead.

The Aegis Aegis from Mantra of Solace can be used to let your party ignore some attacks that they would otherwise need to dodge.

Rotation

The rotation is generally the same as Build:Dragonhunter_-_Power_DPS, however minor changes are made to account for the difference in Elite Specializations and shorter phases in fractals.

Precast Shield of Wrath, Epilogue Ashes of the Just Epilogue Ashes of the Just, and Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath and then start on Sword/Focus.

  1. Symbol of Blades
  2. Ray of Judgment
  3. Sword of Justice
  4. Zealot's Defense (optional - use if the boss will take more than 5 seconds to phase)
  5. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  6. Symbol of Wrath
  7. Whirling Wrath
  8. Leap of Faith
  9. Binding Blade
  10. Sword of Justice
  11. Autoattack until Whirling Wrath is available
  12. Whirling Wrath
  13. Autoattack until Symbol of Wrath is available
  14. Symbol of Wrath
  15. Whirling Wrath
  16. Weapon swap Weapon swap
  17. Symbol of Blades
  18. Zealot's Defense
  19. Autoattack until Symbol of Blades is available and repeat from step 1
  • Use your Sword of Justice charges when you don't have enough time before the next key skill to complete a full autoattack chain.
  • Try to start phases with Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath Chapter 4 Scorched Aftermath both for the damage and to provide a fire field for some Might Might blasting.
  • See Build:Dragonhunter_-_Power_DPS for more usage tips, including encounter-specific information.

This build should never be used in longer encounters until FB receives a power mod trait. It is only good for short phase encounters like fractals and dungeons where you can phase/kill a boss in <10s.

Power Firebrand is inferior DPS to Condi Firebrand. The Firebrand traitline completely lacks any power damage increases, while heavily focusing on condi damage. The only place Power might outperform Condi is Keep Construct due to low armor. Even with record-level phase times, Condi Firebrand outperforms Power Firebrand on bosses like Slothasor.

A decent alternative to Chronomancer should you need quickness and not want a Chronomancer, with a very simple rotation and your sources of quickness being easy to understand, coupled with the ability to grant an offensive buff if using Perfect Inscriptions with Bane Signet and some great panic buttons within Tome of Resolve and Tome of Justice. Sadly, it will fall short of the condition variant of this build on the vast majority of bosses: if the phases are not extremely quick and there are no breakbars, the condition variant will pull ahead by a very large margin; while also ironically having good burst despite its condition-based nature. For casual or relaxed groups - and probably every single pug group no matter the boss, the condition variant is better. For high end groups, stacking guardians with Feel My Wrath better. It is very much a fractal build, rather than a raid build. While it does have its place, I would not recommend it when the condition variant is so much stronger.
