Deadlock Paradox Build
Overview
Paradox is one of the most difficult heroes to play well in Deadlock and proves to be a challenge even for veteran players to play well. However, when played well, Paradox can make incredible plays with the use of Paradoxical Swap as it often guarantees a kill if properly executed while also having a very short cooldown.
However, Paradox also offers good support options to her team with Time Wall and her gun burst damage deals high damage from the beginning of the game until the end, rewarding players for well placed shots.
- Great mobility.
- Great utility through the use of Time Wall, preventing your team from taking damage.
- Good initiator with Paradoxical Swap.
- Mechanically difficult to play well as it requires high game sense.
- Very item dependant.
- Falls off easily in solo-queue.

Skills
- Pulse Grenade — Use this to dominate the lane as it deals high AOE damage and allows you to clear out trooper waves with ease.
- Time Wall — Your bread-and-butter, use it to protect yourself and remain in an advantage when fighting enemies. The skill will stop all bullets and projectiles fired at it for a short while before being released. Try to always sidestep when hiding behind the wall in order to dodge the attacks entirely. Enemies that pass through Time Wall will also be slowed, silenced and take damage based on their max HP.
- Kinetic Carbine — This is your highest damage skill that also provides incredible mobility. Use it to move around the map as you can keep it charged and benefit from the extra movement speed while you can also use it to deal high damage and slow down the target hit by it.
- Paradoxical Swap — Combo this with Time Wall and make sure to pull the enemy through your wall in order to silence them and turn them into an easy kill. Always communicate with your team before doing this so they can help you take down the vulnerable enemy.
Early Game / Laning Phase
Use your Kinetic Carbine to trade with the enemy laners and deal sustained damage from range, forcing them off the trooper wave and push them off, denying them from gaining a souls advantage. Time Wall is another perfect tool for gaining an advantage in lane as it lets you trade shots while remaining safe behind it as long you keep side-stepping to avoid the slowed down bullets.
Focus on farming troopers in lane and denying the enemy to pull ahead in souls. With Paradox's severe item dependency, you should focus on gaining as much of an advantage as you can, clearing neutral jungle camps between pushes using Pulse Grenade while staying away from risky fights.
Hollow Point Ward, Headshot Booster and Basic Magazine will greatly boost your kill potential when using your gun while Mystic Burst also increases the damage done by Kinetic Carbine, providing nice extra damage to deal with daring enemies, especially when coupled with Mystic Shot.
Early Game Situational
If you are struggling in lane, Healing Rite can offer good healing without requiring you to go back to the base but you must remain outside of enemy range as any attack you receive from enemies will cancel the item. You should sell this later into the game as its value lowers while the game advances.
Mid Game
Rush Glass Cannon as you enter the mid game and Midboss spawns in order to further boost your gun damage and turn you into a veritable threat for the enemy. Continue focusing on building your souls though and finish off the lane guardian as quickly as possible to help your team unlock the first flex slot.
With Warp Stone, Paradox's mobility is enhanced further while also helping your defenses. Focus on neutral jungle camps and ganking wherever you find the chance when enemies push your lanes, starting the fight from long range with Kinetic Carbine and stay away as much as possible in order to benefit from Long Range.
Focus on getting Pristine Emblem to further boost your damage, especially against enemies above 50% HP then work on Superior Cooldown (on Kinetic Carbine) to further increase your damage and improve your kill potential.
Late Game
During the late game, you should focus on controlling Midboss and picking lone enemies that are jungling or split pushing, denying their growth in the game. Paradox is strongest when staying at long range as much as possible so sticking with your team will be the best in the late game, supporting them while catching enemies.
In the late game, and at max build, you will deal great damage in fights, especially when you can throw Pulse Grenade into small spaces like Midboss pit. Once fully built, Paradox is a menace thanks to the low cooldown on Paradoxical Swap, turning every fight into an advantageous fight for your team.
Mystic Reverb (on Kinetic Carbine) and Mystic Vulnerability turn Paradox into a great sniper as the damage also spreads to adiacent enemies nearby, allowing you to put pressure on the enemy with ease.
Situational Items
These items can be bought up to counter certain heroes as they work perfectly for specific scenarios.
- Healbane — This is a great item choice against healing heavy heroes like Infernus or Abrams, helping you take them down.
- Knockdown — Cheap item to counter both snipers like Vindicta and Grey Talon by knocking them out of the air. This also works on Seven while he is ulting and he will also be stopped.
- Unstoppable — A fantastic choice for becoming unstoppable and immune to CCs, especially useful against CC heavy teams.
- Curse — This item interrupts spellcasting, silences and disarms a target while also making them incapable of using items for the duration. While it is expensive, it can help a lot vs Sevens Storm Cloud, Dynamos Singularity and many more and its one of the most powerful items in the game.
- Silence Glyph — Buy this if you want to silence enemies and turn them into a quick kill. Works exceptionally well vs enemies that make use of short cooldowns like Lash. It is also great for countering Yamato as the silence can stop her from using the ultimate.
- Debuff Remover — This item removes all debuffs when pressed and can be amazing vs heroes like Bebop as it counters his Sticky Bomb entirely.
- Metal Skin — While not very useful against other heroes, this is very good vs Hazes ultimate, allowing you to reposition away from her while she uses it without taking any damage.
